Saw Dream at Whole Foods on Kirby today (7/16) and I asked him one question! Dream, are you gonna give us (Houston) another year? His reply, "I'm going to work another year, but it won't be here!" Are you sure you heard him correctly? You know he can sometimes be a difficult man to understand...with the accent and all. I wonder if he could have meant something else. He has been back from Jordan for a while now. This is very shocking. Good job, rockHEAD, asking him the question. If it were me, I am sure I would have been too starstruck to think of what to say. I do like the fact that Dream seems to know what he wants, though. I just hope beyond hope that he has conveyed these same feelings to the Rockets organization. If not, then he is doing a serious disjustice to the Rockets. It is one thing to hold out for more money, but another thing entirely to know that you won't come back (or at least know with enough certainty to tell a fan in a supermarket), and not let the Rockets org. know. Perhaps they do know, and they are all attempting to work out a situation where everyone saves face. Dream will look like a greedy old-timer for wanting more money than he is worth, the Rockets will look like a unloyal bastards for not giving the greatest Houston sports icon what he wants. Thanks for the info rH. Really it shouldn't come as a huge shock to anyone. Handwriting's been on the wall for weeks, if not for most of the season. If I didn't want to return to my previous employer, I'm not sure I would return their calls, either. Like Raven, I'm glad Dream came out and was honest about what he wants. I hope he finds a team willing to give him his 6 or 7 mil and a shot at the title. As for the Rox, its time to get serious about landing a free agent center, or pulling off a trade for one. ------------------ I'm so amazingly cool you could keep a side of meat in me for a month. Suppose Hakeem's agent said he'll play for nothing less than $10M, and the Rockets conveyed an offer for half that, and Hakeem's agent said he'll never play for you at that price; and the Rockets said, well, that's what we can afford, and if you don't get a better offer, come back and talk to us later; and Hakeem's agent said (bluffing), we've got at least 3 teams that are willing to pay Hakeem at least $8M, so if you don't up your offer, he's gone. I have no idea whether that's what has happened. But it would explain pretty much everything we've seen and not seen from the Rockets and Hakeem over the past several weeks, including this incident.

I don't know what to make of it. Hakeem definetly used to shop at the Woodway store. I lived a few doors down from one of his apartments. ------------------ T-Pooh and Quitten went up the hill, to make a bet on a Foreward. When it all came down, they were nowhere to be found. Now they should be drawn and quartered.

RH, what were you doing at Whole Foods? That's like the upper class supermarket. Why can't you shop at HEB and Kroger like the rest of us... It's kind of weird of Hakeem to drive 20 miles just for some organic produce and fancy deli meat. About Dream, I really am shocked to hear that he would say something like that in public. This may explain the unanswered phone calls, and lack of interest on Dream's part. I really think that Hakeem is at odds with Rockets management. He and Rudy have some philosophical differences that they might not have been able to resolve. Maybe he just can't stand Cato making more money than him. Maybe Dream wants to go to Washington or Miami. He mentioned both teams before, and everything is hush-hush from Barkley and Jordan. Maybe they have something worked out for all three of them to play together. Utah is also interested in him.
