Seriously this country is ****ed. If the supreme Court decides the election and trump has it packed with conservatives.
With people like Trump I understand that type of animosity where there is some morbid pleasure in seeing the individual suffer in their death primarly because the man is an edgelord who purposefully tries to illicit anger and division as his own defense secretary readily admitted. But why with someone like RBG? You disagree with her ideolgically just like I disagree with Bush Jr ideolgically but I still don't have the desire within me to relish in his pain during his inevitable death. I guess I'm just not a psychopath.
Just know, as a lawyer I have some fond memories of reading Scalia’s opinions because they were short and concise...though I didn’t always agree with his strict textualist style, I respected him as a judge to the highest court. People like you don’t give a dam* about this country, just being able to laugh at “liberals”. You have no nuanced understanding of how the government or courts operate.
Wasn;t going to comment out of respect etc but the Dems here are crapping on her for not dying earlier so I will just add Trump isn't lame duck and GOP holds the senate so I don't think Biden rule applies. No reason to NOT nominate judge and get everyone riled up over the battle. I think overall this is a positive for the Dem ticket as it will add motivation.
My prediction is that a new Justice won't be appointed until after the election and the lame duck Senate will appoint someone. Trump will certainly nominate someone very soon but I'm guessing McConnell might want to wait on approving to give some of the GOP senators facing tough election battles a situation where they won't have to cast a vote on a divisive nominee before Nov.
All right then. I guess I underestimated the confidence that people had in Mitch to act appropriately in this forum. You and @B-Bob seem to have some faith in him. Perhaps RBG really screwed up in that case.
Lol come on. Don't pretend you were going to change the content of what you typed because I said that RBG should have resigned around the end of Obama's first term or begining of his second term.
It's not that I trust that he would hypothetically act appropriately. Does he really have the political clout to hold of a SC justice nomination for 3-4 years straight?
I wouldn't celebrate the death of anyone including Trump or McConnell...but yea I'm frustrated, sad, and pissed right now.
