Just seen Minnymis offering their 5th overall pick for him in a package. We obviously don't have enough assets as the roster stands now. Our best hope is Morey can make some magic happen draft night. Jimmy Butler would help our defense tremendously. Not to mention he can get 20+ most nights.

Unfortunately our only routes for improvement are via free agency and not trade.

    He's solid but:

    1) There's no way we can put together a competitive package for him while keeping Harden

    2) For those who dislike Harden's game, be prepared for even worse from ISO Jim

Rockets don't have anything that can beat the #5 pick that Minnesota is offering.

Jimmy Butler is a selfish player who needs the ball a lot. James Harden is also a selfish player who needs the ball a lot. Both like to isolate themselves from the rest of the locker room. The only difference is that Butler has a better work ethic.

Since chemistry is a big thing in the league now, I don't think these two can co-exist on the same team.

Steph Curry would be perfect next to Harden. We obviously don't have enough assets as the roster stands now.

Klay Thompson would be perfect next to Harden. We obviously don't have enough assets as the roster stands now.

Any other ideas who would be a great fit, even if we obviously don't have enough assets as the roster stands now?

    :p:rolleyes:

I think if ANYBODY can make it work offensively, it's Mike D'Antoni

The perfect compliment to Harden is Paul George. Those guys would be awesome together.

Just don't have enough either way.

People need to understand we have a championchip caliber team ALREADY. Just because the Rockets were never coached properly doesn't mean we should make rash decisions and split up the most talented team in Rockets history.

Winning solves everything.. Mike D'Antoni is going to bring a whole lotta that

I'll give Minnesota Trevor Ariza for the #5 pick. Does that work?!?!?!

How is that even believable. A 41 win team with holes in a number of areas is not exactly the definition of championship caliber

We definitely don't have a championship caliber team. I thought that all through this last season, but in hindsight, we were never on OKC/CLE/SA/GSW level. The pieces we have don't match.

We need a backup center (assuming DH is gone). We need a PF and a backup PF (we don't know if either are returning)

We need a backup pg. We need a backup sg. We need another playmaker/scorer. We need defenders. We need passers. We need chemistry. We need EVERYTHING!

I'm not saying we can't easily retool and be back next season as good as we were last season. But there are gaping holes in our roster that need to be fixed immediately.

When did Butler get a rep for being an ISO heavy selfish player? I know late in games he would go into "hero ball" mode but otherwise the stats say he's far from selfish. He's 3rd in FGA per 100 POS and 3rd in USG% according to BB Reference. Also 48% of his baskets were assisted. Guys like Harden, Irving and Westbrook are down around 30% of there baskets being assisted.

If I recall correctly he was calling out management for firing Thibs and his teammates(Rose indirectly) for not enough effort or shooting too much. Butler is competitive and doesn't seem to be afraid to speak out. Does that make him a bad teammate? All I know is that the Bulls had a lot of talent but their record didn't show it.

Mister Salty could be a great fit.

Even better news, Rockets have the assets(money) to go get him!

That's a great suggestion. We need players, like Mister Salty, who are attainable! Not those who aren't.

    :)
