https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/oct/23/trump-biden-election-gender-divide-women When Sandy Orth reads 2 Timothy 3 in the Bible, which advises good Christians to steer clear of “lovers of themselves, lovers of money, [the] boastful, proud, abusive”, the first person she is reminded of is the US president. These half-hearted pleas are about three years too late for voters like Becky, who lives in a suburb of Des Moines and asked for her last name not to be used because she was worried about being targeted for her opinions. It didn’t take the 63-year-old long to regret her vote for Donald Trump, who she wanted out of office within weeks of him becoming president. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, what did I do? What did we all do? What would’ve been so bad about Hillary?’” Becky said. “He’s so good with his lies. He made you believe she was hiding her emails, doing all these things she shouldn’t be doing.” (Shy Trump voter?)
22 point swing towards Biden from 2016 in a West Virginia poll today. 14 point swing in the NYT/Sienna poll of Montana. States with white working class voters that aren't especially religious are seeing huge swings towards Biden (even if he won't win them). Not a good sign for Trump when it comes to Midwestern swing states.
I was just in a suburban Orange County, CA neighborhood today. 4 or 5 homes with Trump 2020 flags along a short stretch of residential street street. Looks to be an older middle-class neighborhood-- houses are not huge, many of them have RVs, guy I visited works at an engineering firm. Curious to see so many Trump flags out there, so I looked up who represents the Congressional District. It's Harley Rouda of the California 48th, a Democrat. He got the job in 2018 after defeating 15-term incumbent Republican Dana Rohrbacher by 7.6 points. I cannot quickly find any public polling on the 2020 race for the district, but I'm curious to see what happens when the votes are counted.
The honey badger on his head don't care The rubes don't care either, "tell me anything Mr. Trump, I believe ya"
Don't see polls but ... 51% to 49% predicted vote share. Lean D. https://projects.economist.com/us-2020-forecast/house/california-48
The Hill @thehill · 8m President Trump: "Biden's plan would mean America's seniors have no air conditioners during the summer." dude has gone full tilt bozo, for the love of God America, end this this
I live in the neighboring CA 46 District, a combination of suburban LA and Orange Counties. It's kind of eerie how similar the history of the district are in the last 2 years: a long timer GOP seat (our rep was Ed Royce, who retired, not voted out like Rohrbacher), replaced by a first term Democrat (Gil Cisneros). In both cases, their 2020 Republican opponent is a Korean American woman-- Young Kim in the 46, Michelle Steel in 48th. I don't know what kind of ads are being run in 48th, but here Cisneros has been running ads saying that "Young Kim is just like Trump."
It still always blows my mind that Cisneros is literally a lottery winner who self funded his own campaign and managed to become a member of Congress in a Republican leaning seat. He never struck me as a great candidate but he won the lottery at the right time and picked the right election to run for Congress.
Where was that infrastructure bill and high speed network the last 4 years? Same place as the wall paid by Mexico and the Obamacare repeal and replacement?
