You need a TEAM to beat Lebron and Anthony Davis.... AKA Spurs with Duncan, Ginobili, Parker...and company....

Until we become a Team and not ISO ball we are not beating the Lakers....period.

Now you have a new enemy. The Lakers are different, they won't let you shoot threes, and have two maybe three great help defenders.

Yet, we get a 4 on 3 every single possession. We need to add wrinkles and personnel to exploit that, but don’t blow it all up because TNT told you to.

We turn 6-2 Eric Gordon into another 6-9 player with some versatility and I am convinced we can defend them as well as anyone too. Full on switching is the future, not Dan Langhi. We give teams problems when we are locked in.

Not to mention getting a healthy Russ back and no Dan distractions.

This year they were 11 wins away.

That is not close by definition.

Maybe you’re right but Harden’s off-ball body language says otherwise, so if that’s not the impression he’s trying give he needs to own up to it and change. It’s one thing to kinda watch crazy Russ sprint headlong into a defensive wall because that’s who he is and frankly trying to sprint with him instead of hanging back on defense is stupid anyway. But on half court sets, either Harden needs to declare his willingness to catch and shoot corner 3s or Russ has to start setting picks and rolling to the rim. That’s literally the only 2 ways having both of them works. If Russ is a de facto center he still has to represent that or we might as well have Capela shooting 3s. If Russ is supposed to be the best he can be it means James has to play without the ball.

Like all NBA players sans Lebron, Westbrook and Harden are flawed.

But the priority should be to make it work.

    Harden
    Westbrook
3D wing (primary defender and quick guards)
    3D wing (Covington)
C with 3pt range (Lopez, Baynes, Vuc type)

Rox need to have Tucker be the backup PF/C
Acquire a 3D starting caliber wing (trade house and gordon), a starting caliber center with range, and a true 3pt sniper.

Russ needs to let Harden handle the ball more in crunch situations.
Harden needs to learn how to remain involved after giving up the ball when doubled (see SVG comments).

Coach needs to be disciplinary type.
Tilman needs to give Morey autonomy.
Morey needs to dial down the risk meter.
    Clutchfans need to...

Didnt say they were top 15 protected. Btw You do understand how much the rockets had to give to get westbrook. He is was a mvp four years ago, and still has 3-4 really nice years under his belt. Anywhere he goes he could lead a team just by his scoring punch alone to the playoffs. Just sayin... I notice the board undervalue him just cause he couldn't mesh all well with Harden.

Russ's contract is one of the worst in the league so Houston will have to take on a bad contract or two in return. In addition, I honestly do not know what is true value is, meaning are we getting picks back in a trade or are we having to give picks in order to dump the contract?

I am not running the trade machines but options would be:
Russ for Levine (chi) and whatever else is needed to make the trade work.
Russ for JWall (was) and whatever else is needed to make the trade work. (Hopefully Betrans!)
Russ for Horford or Harris (phi) and whatever else is needed to make the trade work.

I would hate to get rid of Russ after one weird azz season!

Here's what you have to understand with Westbrook...

99 times out of 100, he's going to be the worst shooter on the court, he's going to be the worst defender on the court, and he's going to be the most reckless player on the court, and he's going to kill your spacing.

He has no place on any team that aspires to win in the playoffs. I've said it all year and it remains true. All of those trades you laid out improve the team pretty obviously.

All valid points. I think the hope is that maybe Washington or Chicago would be looking for a name to get the fan base hyped.

Maybes’ don’t get things done though.

I’d even trade Russ for Love just to get out of the contract and into a shorter one.

How do the Rockets get longer versions of what they already have without losing something? Sure, it would be nice to get taller and have better shooters, but nobody is taking Ego and giving back a bigger version.

We have no assets to improve, so the peak version of what we are currently doing is what we currently have.
    It isn't close.
The full small ball thing was given a chance. It didn't work, everyone got too tired. We need a change, and the only way to make a change is to cash in whatever we can for next year, and reload for the season after.
