    Don't show Daryl this video

On a serious note, Harden is good enough to shoot 50% at some mid-range area of on the court. I could see him adding that to his game.

    This.

I feel like a lot of people saying "HIRE HIM NOW!" are letting nostalgia take over. As if Cassell being HC would invoke the will of prime Hakeem on our entire team or something.

would love to find out what his coaching philosophy is like

Would he be able to run what he wants, or is it gonna be Moreyball with or without an actual C?

if yet another coach is brought here just to be a slave to Moreyball I’ll be pissed

Either Cassell or Lue would be huge upgrades. Would command the respect of the locker room immediately, being more of a contemporary than MDA.

Yea idk where the idea is that Sam Cassel would be this great head coach.....I would even rather have Lue over him and thats a very low low bar

Clever plan to plant distraction in the Clippers during the playoffs. I like it.

If the Clips get past Denver, I'll be in the unenviable position of having to hope both teams somehow lose in the WCF.

That would be a hell of a sacrifice, @tinman. You sure about that?

If we've got to go with a totally unproven head coach—someone who has zero HC experience at any level—then Sammy is good choice.

He's a team hero who has done his due diligence with 11 years as an assistant. At this point he's earned a shot.

What it says if we hire him, though, is that we've got farther to go to be a title team than a lot of us hoped, just 2 years after nearly winning it all. You don't bring in a rookie HC for that final push to a title.

I don't know that he can because he hasn't been a head coach, but he's assisted under so many head coaches that I have to believe he's picked up some Xs and Os along the way.

Believe it or not, there is live outside the US...He was a professional basketball coach for 12 years in UK, where he won collective and individual awards.

Kerr, Lu off the top of my head were rookie head coaches.

    It can certainly happen.

Is learning under Doc Rivers and Flip Saunders really that impressive though?

    I'm asking sincerely not sarcastic.

I like the idea of Cassell and I LOVE the idea of a thorough search that Morey gets the final say.

Have you talked to him lately? I hope to see him here long term and I hope he and Tilman have found some more common ground.

Erick Spoelstra was a heat assistant for years as well before becoming head coach and having success.

Rivers is a great motivator and I think we certainly need a bit of that. If Sam can reach Harden when we need him to be more aggressive, that would help a lot. I think Sam could help a lot with Westbrook too mentality wise.

Flip was a good coach too, respectable. Sometimes guys are better than their coaching tree...I immediately think of Mike Vrabel who learned under B'OB lol

I just get a good feeling about Sam. It's not the ex-rocket thing I promise but he clearly is dedicated and wants this and we know how passionate he was as a player. I think he'd come here and would do his best to make an impact.
