This was one of the best composers in the history of cinema if not THE best. No composer could make songs with such haunting beauty and excitement. He understood the language of music and its ties to our core as humans. There were no cheap tricks to get a certain feeling quickly. Instead his music was an expression of real raw emotion. A story and a journey itself. One with ups and downs that will be remembered and appreciated, and even imitated, for generations to come.
Very sad to hear this. A great composer and a very big loss. Here is my favorite piece of his conducted by the Maestro himself.
This guy was a freaking INCREDIBLE artist!! I put him up there with the best of the BEST composers!! So many masterpieces but my favorite is "Deborah's theme" in "Once upon a time in America ". Thank you....THANK YOU Ennio!!!
I was so saddened to hear this. The following piece just floors me when I hear it....so beautiful and haunting at the same time.
Morricone was a fantastic composer. Music lends so much to cinema. It can make a great scene in a film sublime, a tense scene almost unbearable. He was a master, without a doubt. Rest in peace.
