The two things I love most about Morey: 1) Despite what half of ClutchFans seems to think, he's always extremely active near the trade deadline and during FA signing period, kicking tires and investigating a myriad of possible deals. We constantly get reports that "The Rockets and Morey have been very active and are talking to everyone." He's not just sitting there waiting for the phone to ring. 2) He rarely makes a move just to make a move. They might not all work out (1st rounder for T-Will), but there seems to be a lot of thinking behind them. CD, God bless him, made some moves that made ZERO sense.
Yeah, came in to say the multi-team trade is what Morey must be working towards. Hell, moving Ariza to a 3rd team for an expiring does it, in a three team trade. That simple. or what @BimaThug calculated. (Below are the Ariza 3-team and Bima's Lou Williams/Brewer add-on trade.) Here is Ariza being shipped to a 3rd team for an expiring that goes to the team with the target player. What that expiring contract is in salary numbers has no impact on our Point of View of the trade. The 3rd Team just needs to balance Ariza's incoming $. And the team with the target player has the salary matching POV of the expiring coming in versus what they are sending out to us. Here's is the math for BimaThug's trade adding more players and teams to the Lou Williams trade. That's so cool. Here's the math that I assume Bima used. very clever BimaThug....thinking exactly like Morey!!! Don't yet finalize the Williams trade, and add to it. @craguin -- how's my math? So, between those two, we have Woj's $10-12m number
Why do we covet Shumpert? I don't really understand that unless we had another deal where we were moving Gordon or Ariza or someone else
Not getting the Shump love unless Morey is trying to start a record label with Shump, Lou Will, and Capela singing background vocals
Murray definitely doing the rounds. He has all other GM's playing checkers while he playing chess, all while at the buffet table.
I like the potential trade for shumpert. With Lou, shumpert, we now have players that can shoot from 3 AND drive to the basket, which fits dantonis offense. Harden, Gordon, dekker, Lou, shumpert - they all can drive and shoot.
And I actually like Shumpert. When healthy I like his defense and his 3 point shot has been a lot better this season. I just don't see any reason why we need him unless we are losing another player in a separate deal.
