Just realized I had Snow Villiers on ignore, and didn't see the Thx DMo thread, until it appeared on Most Recent thread list
The Nets were his best option but he got screwed on that. In hindsight the QO was his best option. I doubt he gets more than that now and his back issues have been brought to light even more.
What? So he'll take the vet min and won't take QO ? It doesn't make sense for him to sign for the min , he's looking to get between 8-9 mi at least for year one.
I really think he may get frozen out of the NBA at least for the rest of this season. What he did set a possibly dangerous precedent for NBA teams trying to sign their own restricted free agents. If they reward him with a contract they validate what he did as a viable option for future players. I'll be very surprised if he gets a contract anywhere near the offer that was rescinded and wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get a contract at all.
There are only 3 teams significantly below the minimum team salary. NJ, Denver, and Philly. NJ can't sign him, Philly doesn't need a big man unless they can unload Okafor/Noel, so that leaves Denver. Utah may pick him up as a rental but I doubt any team wants to commit to him at this point.
Dallas for the 1st two years ,stage one rehabilitation. then he sign a max deal with the Griz. for the 2nd stage of rehabilitation by2020 the world is finally ready to see how his skills matches his tweets
Late season pick-up? Personally, I don't care. He hasn't shown enough to have an ego (or an agent with such a big ego) to warrant a large contract. He's not a free bird. He's Maya's caged bird with a song that is overrated.
... "But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing....."
Gsw/cavs/Toronto & lakers. Those are my picks. 1 yr deal at 8m. Obviously some of those teams can make an offer right off the bat but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to any of those teams.
I just really wish Detroit didn't rescind that trade. It would have been nice to get a 1st round pick and avoid this whole fiasco.
I wish we never tried to trade him to begin with, he would still be here and happy and contributing. Getting the 20th pick in the draft would not help this team as much as DMo would. DD
I'm struggling to even understand how short sighted one must be to make this post. I absolutely agree that a player drafted in the mid first round would be unlikely to be a difference maker on this team - but do you think it wouldn't help in a trade? What if a Paul George shakes loose? A mid first rounder was the central piece in the James Harden trade for crying out loud! Right now, basically all we have to work with is an incredibly late first round pick, Dekker, Montrez and KJ. Maybe Onuaku or the rights to Gentille or Zhou Qi but I doubt either of those have much value. Having another high potential rookie (or a draft pick) could be the difference in us being in the discussion for a star on the trade block or being completely out of consideration. And it's clear to me that the Rockets don't believe in D-Mo's long term health or they'd have reached an agreement with him long before this whole drama unfolded. I loved D-Mo, but if he's going to continue to have back issues we are better off without him. It would have been nice to get a highly tradeable asset for him rather than nothing but that's how it went. And can you quit acting like it's a sure thing that he would be contributing? The guy has been an unrestricted free agent for days and nothing is happening. Nobody even seems to want him. You're acting like the Rockets blew it on a no brainer move for a highly valuable player. But if he's so valuable then how come the only team to even try to sign him was basically a d league level Brooklyn Nets squad? Why aren't any other teams making a move for him? Please, enlighten me.
Nothing is happening because he is still in discussions with the league to try to allow NJersey to sign him, or he may file a lawsuit. DD
