I think "we" all know enough the Nets missed something significant. D-Mo has been on the shelf for quite some time and should be very anxious to join someone's roster and work the cobwebs off. At this point, it shouldn't be a matter of maximizing the value of a short-term contract. He has to get on the floor asap and demonstrate he'll be worth a dime this summer. The clock is ticking. The worst case scenario is nobody wants damaged goods and he'll be lucky get on someone's summer league roster.
So... Lakers brought him in for a workout. It seems like DMo is following Jeremy Lin's career path. 1. Rockets ✓ 2. Lakers ✓ 3. Hornets (next stop) 4. Nets (final destination)
DMo would have to still play for GS, the Knicks, and then have Les overpay for his contract somewhere in between all that.
Oh come on. D-Mo was my favorite player 2 years ago. I want him to succeed, and I want to watch some games of him. But I cannot support him if he becomes a Laker.
Could also be that Kupchak owed BJ Armstrong (or Wasserman group in general) a favor and this is BJ cashing in. Maybe the Lakers don't even think about signing him, but some good PR is very valuable to DMo at the moment.
Morey could call BJ, "Hey, now that you have screwed yourself and your client out of decent money, how about coming back for the vet min, huh?" Then he could hang up and LHAO.
The DD curse is real. Every single player he gets an irrational hard on for eventually finds a way to screw up his career. You don't want DD to go to bat for you, that's just bad news. If he is out of his mind in support of you, it's guaranteed, your career is about to take a serious downturn.
