Bobby Marks is reporting that the league expectation for Wood is the tax payers MLE. I'm with you and thought he would command $ 20 Million. The Rockets can use that now. Let's be real though, I agree with you. Tax is unlikely and the hard cap with using the MLE would make things very difficult with the way the team is currently constructed.

Signing Wood would almost certainly require trading Eric Gordon to free up cap space to operate under the apron. Detroit (the incumbent), New York (Thibs loves vets) and Minnesota could all potentially take on Gordon's contract.

Morey didn't enjoy the work anymore. Why? There are tons of reasons why that we could all speculate on. The backlash from China was awful and has to have made the past year a living nightmare. Maybe Tilman and him agreed he'd step down in a year so they could both move on from the incident. Tilman lost a lot of money from a retweet and Morey lost a lot of sleep and comfort. It was an awful situation and capitalism is real. Tilman having Morey quit immediately would have been bad optics and I'm not sure they didn't talk about that last year. Morey tweeted something that he didn't expect to have a reaction. He didn't stand by his statement in any subsequent talks.

It was just simply time plain and simple.

    We had run our course.

    Stop blaming Tilman
    Stop blaming China
    Stop blaming morey

    It was just time.

I disagree completely. The right time would have been once he traded James Harden for every asset of an opposing team in two years. This was a rushed timeline. Something sped up the process and it wasn't just time. It could be COVID. It could be Tilman. It could be China. It could be just a lack of interest. If this wasn't rushed, Gersson would have been with the organization still to take over and even more evident is that McNair would be with the organization still. He literally took another job a month ago.

It appears #Tilman feels he is a better GM than Morey. Good lucky Tilly

Were we saying that in the offseason when Tilman bought the team?

TF is a POS. He would do it but I feel he is going to have to dump this asset. He overstretched his skis and his leverage in a booming economy. His simple penny pinching BS with the Rockets will not be enough. Worse, he hamstrung the team up front when he had every chance to win. NBA's revenues are cratering. That **** was all forecasted to boom. I don't believe he can afford to keep the team past the next couple of years. NOW is a horrible time to sell but I doubt it gets much better later. I don't doubt that we get a Chinese investment group at some point. He is desperate and will need that capital to shore up his other assets.

    Guys let’s be real.....

TF is not selling his new shiny trophy... He will sell or liquidate every other business before this one. His son already has his entire future planned out with the Rockets.

We are stuck with the Fertittas until past our lifetimes at this point.

TY Lue cannot be TF's choice, he simply costs too much.

TF wants the cheapest option possible, precedence has all but proved this.

If Covid measures go long enough, Tilman could easily become cash insolvent.

    So you're saying there's a chance..

Yes, nothing says "We've been up front" like telling the media a story that doesn't check out with the people you claim to have been up front with.
