Granted. But that does not amount to a denial that, among other things, Houston is the fourth-largest city in the US, as you stated.
They have a lot of guys the projections could be wrong about because they’re young (Calhoun, Solak) or have wildly inconsistent track records (Santana, Odor, Andrus). If they signed Puig or Castellanos their lineup would be really deep: SS Andrus DH Choo RF Puig CF Gallo 1B Frazier LF Calhoun 3B Solak 2B Odor C Chirinos
I honestly don't understand the optimism about Calhoun, whose 75% percentile projection looks to be an average player. He has practically zero defensive value, he never really dominated in the minors outside of A ball, and is already 25. Maybe he'll live up to his 50 FV evaluation, but I don't see anything more than that.
Jail time for Fiers? Hopefully he drops the soap in the shower. Snitches have a great life in prison from what I've heard. Good luck Fiers, not.
The Reds are going to be a force in the NL Central. They've got Suarez, Votto, Moustakas and Castellanos as the core of their lineup with some other young guys that could break out. Then they've got Bauer, Castillo, Sonny Gray and Miley to anchor their rotation. Watching them, STL and Milwaukee battle it out this season could be fun.
If they’re able to flip Senzel for a star SS they will be a real contender. Deep lineup, very good rotation with 3 playoff caliber starters, solid bullpen with a good closer.
Any chance the new GM could get in on that once he’s hired? Isn’t senzel originally a 3B? Slide breggy over to short and have a young controllable talent for 5 years....
I'm pretty surprised Taijuan Walker is still on the board. He seems like an ideal buy low flier option for a team like us. He's never quite been able to pitch up to his stuff, but he seemed to being hitting his stride in Arizona before he had TJ. He's still only 27, so it's not like he's some proven mediocre journeyman yet.
I think Correa for Senzel, Stephenson, and Siani would be a fair deal and one that could potentially give Houston a whole new window into the 2nd half of this decade. Diaz, Toro, Straw, and Senzel could compete for Correa’s ABs and I don’t think the drop off would be as dramatic as people think. But there’s certainly an argument that the only way trading Correa makes sense is if it brings back a ToR SP with multiple years of control.
