Do not blame me for making a new thread on a trade (maybe Clutch can make a search thread bar for past post ) But anyways!!!

With the big time potential free agents resigning with their respective teams maybe we should just try to sure up our role players! Howard and CP3 will stay in LA, Smith will more than likely stay in ATL, Millsap and West are just good role players on good teams too me! So why not try to get role players like we did with Horry, Sam Cassell, Thorpe and Elie. So as I run through the cellar dwellers of the NBA, two names come to mind they we can make a run for to help us get in the playoffs.

    Rodney Stuckey:

Very big PG who can guard PGs, SGs and SFs. Can get to the paint with ease cause of his strong build and height. Scoring 10 pts a game with 4 assist coming off the bench. Has 88 assist to 28 turnovers so he take care of the ball. Would look good in a three man guard set with Lin, Stuckey and Harden all in the game at the ssame time.

    Tayshaun Prince:

A talented all-around player.Good coordination and shooting skills.Long arms... Looks good handling the ball... Extremely athletic... Can drive to the basket... Excellent defender... Great durability... Never misses a game.

Since Detroit is a bottom feeder of the NBA why not take some good players from them so they can likely rebuild.

    So this trade would work:

    Outgoing:

    Cook (Expiring)
    Aldrich (Expiring)
    Patterson (Tradeable piece)
    Douglas (Expiring)

    = $9,701,062

    Incoming:

    Tayshaun Prince

    Rodney Stuckey

    = $15,264,045

So with the 9.7 million going out with the 7 million in cap space this trade can happen and it will make this team even better than the players that are going out would.

Why Detroit would do this trade?? Simple, they get to move players who are shadowing the young players like Daye, Jerebko and Knight progression even though Joe Dumars is not smart as a GM

Why Houston would do this trade??? To sure up our bench so we can make a push towards the playoff this year and what are we actually giving up 9 million in Expiring contracts!!!

    Get this done Mr. Morey

Daye sucks and has always sucked. Jerebko hasn't played well, but if he does, he'll take minutes from Villaneuva, not Stuckey or Prince. No one is shadowing Brandon Knight's progression, he's awesome. And Dumars is pretty awesome too.

Detroit doesn't take this trade. They lose on assets and they lose good high character veteran leaders. They also clearly aren't looking to tank.

So giving Charlie and Ben bad contracts that hamstrung that team over the years was awesome...come on CV never gets on the floor and Ben is gone...currently the team is outfitted with the same type players it look like with the only stand outs Knight, Stuckey Prince and Monroe. They are not building around a ten year veteran in Prince so if they can rid his contract and go sign a Granger type player

Didn't we discuss Dumars with you like a month or two months ago? Or was it someone with a similar name... I've forgot by now. If it was you, then I don't see much point to go through the Pistons recent history again.

Re the current roster -- they have a couple pretty good rookies, too. Their roster makes sense now. "same type of players" was 2010. If anything, Patterson would be the superfluous piece.

Re trade -- Stuckey is their 6th man. Prince is there for veteran leadership. They might trade Prince at some point, but I'd imagine the price would be higher than Patterson for Prince+Stuckey.

I don't really agree on this. First of all you only get good role players if you already have a core. Right now though the only one worthy of that for the Rox is Harden and maybe Parsons. The rest are still question marks IMHO.

Also, getting vets like Prince would just take time away from the Rooks, I'd rather we lose games (and get a higher pick) playing with Rooks than win a couple of games playing Prince.

Stuckey's exactly like a poor man's Harden. He's not a big pg, he's an undersized SG, he can make plays ala Harden but if you compare him to true pgs like say Lin then it's pretty clear his first instinct is not to make plays for the team. IMHO what the team needs is a well-rounded pg, someone who is above average at both hitting 3s and making plays. Someone like Ty Lawson would be perfect.
