We did. I believe the Rockets advised him to go back to Europe and continue developing. Based on Gogi's comments, it sounds like they still have a good relationship with the organization. Would not be surprised if we told him he would get significant minutes at backup 1 and 2 (after a Lin trade, of course).
Hope we get him, i really liked him when he played for us in the summer league. He really hustled and played D if i remember correctly, he just couldn't get his shots to go down.
You know exactly what the Rockets are doing and it is smart. They are not going to waste their cap space on a couple rotation filler players, they are trying to get a top 20 player. For what it is worth, if they pull it off, they will have the MLE and VE to use to sign the role players you want.
What players are "jumping" to play there? They drafted Blake Griffin and got Chris Paul as a free agent. They are appealing because they are in Los Angeles and are competitive. This "analytical philosophy" is REALLY being over blown. Analytics is a TOOL used when making a decision, it isn't the ONLY tool and it isn't the end all, be all. Morey and the Rockets do not only rely on analytics. The reason he has gotten so much attention is that until recently teams didn't rely on it at ALL. I have a question for you, if the CLIPPERS lose in round 2, is it a disapointing season for them? Do they need to make major changes? The have been together as a team for a few years now, almost lost in round 1 to an inferior team with a rookie coach.
And will likely command $10-12 million/year. Not sure how our finances will look that far ahead for this to be a viable option.
He's a good player. High energy. Gets to the rim. Rarely turns it over. Good defender. Had a higher PER at last year's EuroBasket than Batum, Belinelli, Jeff Taylor, DeColo and various other NBA-rights held players, including Papanikolaou (higher Euroleague PER than K-Pap, too. Probably better defensively as well). Was one of the best per-minute scorers at his position in the Euroleague this year. His 3-point shooting was/is pretty much the only reason why he isn't in the NBA yet and he's made strides to the point where he isn't a total non-threat (35.4% in 22 Euroleague games, 29.5% in 29 ACB games).
I remember hoping the bros would play for us, both of them. I wonder if cutting Zo poisoned Go against us...
Sign this guy. You don't get many second chances to fix a major mistake (letting Goran go). We should get him here. There's plenty of minutes for a quality pg on this team. Sounds like he'd be an upgrade over Lin at the very least.
Do you think he is ready for the NBA? Would he be able to give us more overall than Lin next season if he were to sign here? Or even Bev?
Since when is Harden, Howard, Asik and Lin bottom of the barrel? That's a pretty impressive two year haul
