I find this thread fascinating.

Against my better judgement, I decide to engage with them mainly because I believe the audience is not just the troll and me. It's for the third party reader who might not be fully invested in this debate who have casual opinions that are swayable.

 

Trump has literally settled in court with the DOJ over his RACIST business practices.

 

Settling doesn't mean he's guilty! No one was talking about it until 2015, so it's not racism!

Look at Karl Malone. Everyone hates him now because he was a child molesting ******* but that’s not news. People just ignored it until they couldn’t ignore it anymore.

You also fail to mention Trump calling most “Mexicans coming here being murders and rapist, but some some are very good people”

He definitely was plenty of times. I have no clue where people are getting this narrative that he "was never called a racist before running". It's like they are in some isolated bubble where they just watch a bunch of Steven Crowder and Laura Southern YouTube videos.

Some people were saying that Trump wasn't called a racist before 2015 so that proves he isn't really. I'm saying he's been called a racist well before then.

Yes, of course if given evidence of remorse and a course correction.

Generally speaking:

1. If you mean new evidence arises to suggest racism, that's true. I also think you have to judge someone on their whole, not just snippets.
2. You can also get into a slippery slope with "presentism". Judging actions or people of the past by today's morals. In some cases, its probably OK, but it gets difficult too. With today's definitions of racism, sexism, homophobia, etc., you basically have to discount all people born before...1900? No human achievement before about that time was achieved by someone that didn't have the morals of THAT time...
3. Additionally, the definition of "racism" is shifting to include more and more things.
