it's not all that uncommon. I've had two different consensual partners ask me to choke them and worse. I personally wouldn't be comfortable doing that with someone I didn't know well and trust though, because this is exactly the kind of thing that can happen in a case where you don't know and can't trust your partner. Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to discover she asked to be choked specifically so she could file a lawsuit against him - though in that case it's somewhat strange she's admitting the sex is consensual.
