And more top prospects might drop out of this year's draft for 2012. We have NYK's first, and our own first for 2012... We need to hit the lottery HARD.

I was going to start a thread on the exact same thing. If we want to rebuild like the Thunder, the 2012 draft is the place to do it. First, we need to fire Morey for trading our 2012 1st to NJ. :)

Unfortunately, we are just too good. Bernie Mac could coach and we would win 40 games.

Kind of minimalizing Adelman's impact, no? This team isn't that talented.

How is 'tanking' an alternate reason for changing coaches? It seems to me, based on forum conversation, that it's the only reason we'd change coaches, as we aren't going to find a better coach in the off-season than RA.

And saying we 'need to tank' isn't going to make you many new Rockets friends. The last poll I can remember showed about 80% of forum users believed that making a decision to tank before a season even begins is a good way to ruin a franchise.

There may be some very vocal users that are pro-tanking, but the vast majority of Rockets fans are quite the opposite.

Is it "tanking" or getting serious about rebuilding?

Personally, I've never been a really pro-tanking person. The decision to tank or not really depends on the draft though - you don't tank if there's no Tim Duncan or LeBron James up there. Tanking for the 2000 draft and tanking for the 2003 draft is REALLY different.

I think highly of our players, you could say.

I think we are pretty dang talented. Talented enough to shoot for the 7th-8th seed every single year, with or without Adelman.

Go ahead and tank, an early first rounder is worth it in such a deep draft.

Most stupid thread thread is most stupid.

Our 2012 1st rounder is lottery protected, so if we miss the playoffs again (probable) we get our 1st rounder back. We'll also receives NY's 1st rounder to use in trades.

If I'm Morey, I'm trying to get as many 2012 1st rounders as I can. The Terrence Williams trade really stings right now..

That's a very valid point. There are some drafts that are worth tanking for. And then there are most drafts in which tanking is a too risky gamble.

If we do change coaches this off-season, my guess is that Les and Morey are going to hire a young unproven coach on a 2-3 year contract, just long enough to either develop the coach and players and be ready to resign a more experienced gem of a coach when we're ready to compete again, or (the more likely scenario) to develop the players and then replace the lemon of a coach when we're ready to win again.

I can't say that I'm 100% for increasing losses next season or 100% against it. If we were to strategically rebuild next season, then it's a great season in which to do it.

But as a Rockets fan, I will never enjoy watching a losing team, even if I know it's for a greater good years down the road.

Tank, no. Head in a new direction, yes. Tanking is a game for fools.

If they remove the age limit with the new CBA, the 2012 NBA Draft could go down as the greatest of all time ... Here's the top prospect of the 2012 H.S. School Class that would be eligible if they remove the age limit..

    Andre Drummond C, 17yrs old, 6'11...

    ^

I was all for making the one-year requirement. Now that my team's stuck in mediocrity, I want it removed. It didn't matter if you were a top five pick or top 20 pick when HS kids could declare.. generally you could find gems later in the draft.

Considering Bernie Mac is dead, that'd be a pretty amazing feat.

I say trade everyone over 25 on the team ASAP. Load up on picks and build a Long tall front court.

I been thinking the same thing since the top prospects were staying to school. But the only way we can do that is if we get rid of K trash and Scola. If Morey is gonna try to be greedy and hope to tank with them on the roster to add the top pick wth them, it isn't gonna happen. If they are still on the roster we might sneak in the playoffs only to get spanked.
