Seen a lot of rap and rock and so forth threads.. I don't have the power to search but I would like to refresh if there was a "metal" thread. Anywho its a place for people who like the "crunch" to share bands and hidden jems. I am scared to see what some consider "metal"... creed? 36 crazyfists and Demon Hunter are two of my favorite bands, and about the only (borderline) metal I listen to anymore.
"Nickleback Video Not Available in Your Country" What a fruck is this shet I live in Canada. Also, pop rock thread general <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5NPBIwQyPWE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nIjVuRTm-dc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
How the heck is Slipknot NOT considered metal? Is there some metal-quota for a certain percentage of indecipherable heavy-breathe-screaming that they aren't hitting?
Tremonti- its not Creed but the guitar player from Creed has a new monster solo metal album. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/BVfbosghkTg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Halestorm - Lzzy Hale is the new female face of metal <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FmkHqUwa4zg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

If Jesus was a metal band he would be Meshuggah. They had their first headlining tour come through Houston a few months ago and that was one of the best nights of my life. Between the Buried and Me are good, but I'm hesitant to declare myself a fan. I definitely prefer their newer stuff to their older, sometimes gimmicky stuff. As for In Flames, they were great at one point. They peaked with The Jester Race. Moonshield, the first song from that album, remains one of the best songs I've ever heard to this day. The lyrics really got to me when I was younger, and I still love them to this day. Their next album, Whoracle, was also really good, but shortly after that Anders Fridén decided he could sing (he can't - at least not without heavy editing). And so they quickly fell off in my eyes. However, they still put on a great show. Saw them a few years ago in Houston and they are great performers. Surprised that At The Gates has yet to be mentioned: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SF0U77bm9mc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Decapitated has a few good songs, but since Vitek (their superstar drummer) died I stopped following them. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/T-XkMUQ4yN0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Lastly, and most importantly, I'd like to mention Gojira. They are the best metal band that gets little recognition even within metalhead circles. Their stuff is fun to play, and even funner to listen to and see live. They are the best band I've ever seen live. Their band name is very fitting because they are one of the heaviest heavy metal bands of all time. You can start watching from about 1:30 to see what I mean. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/tEqBqnufMcE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> They're can also be very artsy, for you artsy types. The timing and rhythm of this will make you **** your pants: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_yi6OuWaZ6I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I prefer good ole fashion heavy metal bands...Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Queensryche, Blaze Bayley, Slayer. basically the great metal bands of the 80's. the only band i would listen to in the TS's post is Dio (RIP). i never understood the fascination with indecipherable growling.

I was waiting for heymitch post after reading some of his posts. Gojira is badass been listening to them for a while. I'm in class now or else I'd post some more vids.

"Metal" that you need to listen to: Ghost - Old school theatrical satan metal. "Con Clavi Con Dio" <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mShYf8ICuF4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Dead Horse - Houston (or Pasadena) metal from the 90s. "Every God for Himself" <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2bqT5v9nKiA?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The Body - Sorta avant-garde metal from Rhode Island that knocked my face off when I saw them live. "Even the Saints Knew Their Hour of Failure and Loss" <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VbwGz4bsfd8?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Long Legged Woman - Metal from Athens, GA (home of R.E.M. lol). Great live band. This song makes me want to jump up and run around in circles. "Yours is Mine" <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QFXfPzK5YG4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Seeds of Iblis - Anti-islamic black metal from Iraq. It's perfect black metal - lo-fi, anti-religion, with corpse paint! They call themselves part of the Anti-Islamic Legion - a handful of black metal bands from the middle east. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/JUdgARiDjKk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I suppose that's enough for now.

Got the new Between the Buried and Me CD. Three songs in. The third song has too much clean vocals. I'm still hopeful it will be a badass album....
