Defensively the goal is to: 1) Keep a body on the shooters 2) Jones should start on Aldridge, with Dwight shadowing. 3) Asik guards Aldridge for a little more than half the time he is on the court. So like 20mins of the 35mpg LMA will play. 4) Don't help with LMA, only person to "help" or shadow--let that be Dwight 5) Full court press Damian with Bev for periods of the game. Let's really make their starters work and kill any flow to their game. This is a team that's easily stoppable.
The issue with the TT was McHale not being clear on how who steps out and who stays down low defensively. Offensively, it was a nightmare with McHale not directing who goes where either. Defensively, it was a bigger problem for some reason. If you play it properly, it should be a stop, rebound(we have two of the arguably most dominant rebounders in the game today), fastbreak every play. The fast-break component needs at least Jeremy or James in there. We should be leaking out and running with the TT combo. Half-court wise we get stagnant. It's imperative we have 2 of the 3(Chandler, James or Jeremy), for their playmaking abilities. Bev, James, Parsons, Dwight, and Asik can do it.
It's ok because if Batum gets by Harden..guess what is waiting for him underneath? TT! Harden could penetrate..and dont even think about pulling off of Daniels to double team Harden.. also Beverly can penetrate and dish or hit the three.. I still like it!
This idea sounds reasonable. The enthusiasm is rosy. But i have learned to start with a low expectation.
Defensively it's simple. Dwight is the guy who should stay down low and Asik is the guy who should play up and out on the floor.
I disagree. Dwight has the athleticism to switch on to perimeter players if need be as he did on LeBron. Omer being less mobile needs to park his butt in the paint.
that's wrong. Dwight may be able to step out for a play or two but Dwight is too valuable to us on the offensive end to wear his a... out running all over the court chasing the pick and pops and pick and rolls. That is Asik's bread and butter. Asik can do that for 40 minutes and we don't need him to be running offense through on the other end. It's common sense, man.
