The balance is when the Twin Towers are in you run off everything with good shooters (Daniels) and you jack the 3 or get the layup instead of setting up half court. The Twin Towers should be played with 3 perimeter players who will run and gun.
Heh, that was my argument for not abandoning it - we're going to need it in the playoffs if we run into a team that has LaMarcus Aldridge or Zach Randolph or Dirk Nowitski or Blake Griffin or Serge Ibaka.
I think it is silly to try and matchup to a lesser opponent. Make them match up with you! Let Aldridge get his, but contain Mathews, Batum and Lillard. On the offensive end go hard at Lopez and try and get him in foul trouble. Every time Harden drives, go at Lopez. Post up Howard on Lopez. Once Lopez is limited by fouls, LMA is going to have focus on helping defensively which should take him out of his rythm.
LMA is the motor, you never let the motor of the team "get his" when you have a proven defender that minimizes the need for a help commitment.
He is. So is Dwight. They are both big enough to control the paint, but mobile enough to guard "traditional" power forwards. If it is a true stretch four, that is a different story, but looking at the playoff brackets there isn't a team that we face that would use a true stretch four in the teams that we might play unless we made it to the Finals against Lebron and the Heat. The Twin Tower lineup, even though it was bad in the playoffs, could be useful for us in the playoffs for a limited period of time in certain matchups. I could see us using it for about 10-15 minutes a game against Portland, LAC or Memphis (who we probably won't play).
This is exactly why I think that Portland is a good matchup for us. We aren't an overall great defensive team, but Beverley is a good defender to put on Lillard and either one of Asik or Dwight are good defenders to put on Aldridge. They will still score. But I think that our guys will be able to slow them down enough that they aren't going to beat us. And if we can reduce the games down to Wesley Matthews, Nicolas Batum and Robin Lopez being the ones who have to beat us, then I like our chances!
I think we have got to try DMo on LMA for sure, but he would get destroyed on the boards. LMA's biggest improvement this year hasn't been scoring, rather it has been his impressive rebounding
Asik would be the X factor if we were to win a title. Him on Aldridge and the likes would keep em quiet.
Rockets coach Kevin McHale said that "it's possible" he'll pair Dwight Howard and Omer Asik for stretches vs. the Trail Blazers.
Damn I read the thread title as "Asik on AMA". I didn't see Asik as the type that would be answering questions on Reddit.
We can't run out this lineup because I don't think Harden wants to chase Batum around, and Daniels is too short to cover him.. Need chandler. And we need Beverley on Lillard.
