Boise State has the inside track right now, because they play absolutely no one. Does Houston have a chance? If both teams go undefeated does Houston jump BSU with their superior schedule?
As bad as the WAC is, ConfUSA is no better - and maybe worse. Boise State played Oregon, who could win the Pac 10 and is likely to end up higher ranked than Okie State (if OSU loses to Texas and OU). Plus, they are already at #5 - unless they lose or look bad, they probably have the inside track. TCU is also in the mix - being in the MWC, they potentially have a better schedule than either Boise or UH. I think of the 3, UH's road is the hardest - they probably need both Boise and TCU to lose a game, or Okie State to go nuts and win the Big 12.
UH has the harder schedule, but unfortunately the polls matter too much in the bullsh** that is college football. You start out higher, you end up higher. Boise isn't where they are based on merit, they're there based on reputation. Good for them, but it's a dumb system.
I love people worrying about this 4 games into the season. You have to win every game for there to be an argument and the season is only a third of the way over. Boise has an easier schedule from here on out but there is no guarantee that they don't lay an egg. Same goes for UH. Gotta just enjoy the ride guys. As someone who let the rankings affect my appreciation of an excellent UT season last year, just focus on how great your team is playing and whatever happens will happen. As of right now, I'd have to say UH is the better team but that could change. As everyone told us UT fans last year, you have to win 'em all before you can complain about rankings. UH is a third of the way there with a good chance to finish the last two-thirds.
Boise State has worked hard to earn their reputation. The Coogs need to continue to impress and they'll earn a national reputation as well.
Boise State's next hardest game is oct 14th @ Tulsa. If they win that game its a done deal because nobody else on their schedule has a shot at beating them. Tcu has @ Airforce on the 10th and @ Byu on the 24th.
The sight of some of those UH girls rushing the field/wobbling onto it was pretty troubling to me. Get the skinny girls to come to the games, win out, and then we can have this discussion.
No kidding. I hate talking about this so soon. Its a LONG way til December. And its not "hating" or "trolling" to say a team will lose... because on average only about 2-3 teams end up undefeated each year... soooo odds are against you
Well, the premise was if they both go undefeated ya know, so that kinda rules out that post. Boise State played Oregon and Houston played Oklahoma State... But past that, Houston plays three other teams that are all better than the next best team that Boise State will play. Mississippi State, Texas Tech and Southern Miss will all be tests for Houston while Boise State really plays no one else that should be a test for a top 25 team at this point.
You're right, why do we have this forum here anyways. Let's just do away with clutchfans, since we will no longer need a forum to discuss sports.
Most pollsters just slide teams up when teams ahead of them lose or when they get a big win. No more big wins for Boise St or UH. TCU plays Utah and BYU so they may have the ability to jump Boise St. but I don't think UH does. UH needs to win out and hope that Boise St. and TCU each lose a game.
It seems like the easy solution would be to just not talk about it, no? There's no reason other people that are not you can't talk about it. If UH loses, what damage was done by discussing it?
Southern Miss, Miss St, and UCF will all be more "quality" wins than any on Boise State's schedule imo. But I agree that it will be hard for UH to pass Boise State if they both win out (that goes for TCU too). UH will definitely have a strong sos than Boise but Boise is way overrated and it will be hard to pass them up.
No way is C-USA worse than the WAC. WAC football = C-USA basketball...Boise and a bunch of jokers. Boise's only real remaining test is at C-USA Tulsa and I think Tulsa could pull off the upset at home. The Coogs still have at Mississippi State (who should have beaten LSU yesterday), Southern Miss, at Tulsa. TCU still has BYU, Utah, and Air Force.
