No doubt that Thibodeau will get max defensive effort, but that max-effort approach is gonna run this team ragged.

Plus... this is an offensive-minded team. Why Thibs?

Why are we an offensive-minded team?

We have the very best combo of defensive Centers, very good PG defense when healthy, and are average on the perimeter.

But Thibs, a pro-defense guy, with a team that's focused on offensive dynamics is a great fit. It's a ying and a yang.

Thibs would make us a top defensive team, and we'd be able to be a top offensive team just by default. Hopefully, Thib has some end of play calls, and Xs and Os, that aren't the same **** where Dwight curls to the bucket for an alley-oop and we blow it so we have to just do a normal in bound.

 

Offensively, he's as creative as McHale is defensively. That's a big no-no.

While defensively, we'd be just at another level. Offensively, even if we employ that same strategy we tend to favor(3s and Dunks), we still not seem late game execution and half-court plays. Jeff is quite poor at that.

This is kind of misguided. Yeah, Karl's nuggets teams never got out of the first round. Oh wait, yeah they did, they were in the 2009 WCF. And he also coached a good Seattle team to the NBA finals, and also helped make the Bucks relevant in the early 2000s. Oh also, the Nuggets teams he coached either weren't very good. Last year was a bit of a fluke - they ran in to a buzzsaw of a team in GSW. They were on fire, I don't think anybody (Spurs included) would've beat them in that first round.

Karl is a really smart basketball mind. Someone said his basketball ideas aren't in line with Morey and that's false - both emphasize quality shots. The Karl nuggets teams lived behind the 3 point line, at the rim or at the free throw line. That sounds like what the Rockets try to do night in and night out.

OP also claims Karl is a defensive guy, and I don't really think that part is true.

On the whole, I'd be happy with Karl coaching the Rockets. It would be an upgrade to an extent, but what i question is if it's an upgrade to the point that it makes sense to disrupt the chemistry this team is building not only with each other, but their coach (Dwight, James, Chandler, Jones, Brooks all sing McHale's praises). K-Mac isn't the best coach in the league (nowhere near it), but guys like to play for him and they play hard for them. If anything, if he changed up some of his assistants and brought in a guy who had a clear defensive strategy the team sticks to, that would probably be best.
