McHale is on an expiring contract. We need to retain our top level level coach.

Not gonna lie, I was completely against picking up his option this year after the terrible playoff series, but he has made me eat crow.

Hopefully Mark Cuban won't invite him for some drinks at the club this upcoming summer.

Extend him, but why a substantial pay raise? Save some of that money to bring in a top assistant once JB Bickerstaff gets poached

His record certainly warrants the extension; whether it's his decision making and leading or other factors that make this record... we won't be fully clear about that until months/years post contract decision.

edit: Bad reading on my part. By extend I meant re-sign after the season ends, only based on the current record. Playoff performance obviously impacts it substantially.

We have to extend him simply so the "Official Fire Mchale" thread can keep getting bumped

The teams that find the Kevin McHale's, not the ones that give a substantial pay raise, are the ones that succeed long term.

Why does every thread you make have to be a troll thread Carl?

Just wait see how the season plays out. McHale may be worth an extension. He isn't going anywhere if we offer him a contract, Les doesn't care about money, and his salary doesn't count against the cap anyways. So no need to rush.

Only if we can convince him to foul when up 3 and seconds remaining.

The Rockets are 19-5. This thread is much more rational than the Fire McHale thread.

No, I rather we give JB Bickerstaff the head coach job next year than him. JB was giving instructions in OT, all McHale said was switch everything..
