Watching the discussion on TNT...... Charles was pro Love, and Shaq was arguing..... Kenny had a good point that Griffin affects the game more.. Let's discuss...... http://www.nba.com/video/channels/tnt_overtime/2012/01/17/20120116_top5_inside_2.nba
My thoughts: Paul Gasol should be classified as a C for this discussion. What about LaMarcus Aldridge? (Underrated?) Zach Randolph? Amar’e Stoudemire? Chris Bosh? Blake Griffin and Kevin Love are both good but need to be in another level to be the "Best PF in the game". Scola is OK. Dirk and KG are too old to discuss this issue... - Am I missing anyone else?
I think it is still Dirk, but would take either Love or Griffin on the Rox for just about the entire roster. DD
Clippers would wipe their asses with that kind of offer. Blake is the favourite player in the NBA, marketing-monster and on his way to one fo the best PFs in history.
I would take Griffin. -First of all he has the potential to be the GREATEST. -He lives in the paint and is a phenomenal finisher - He runs the floor - He is YOUNG - He is a great rebounder - He is willing to work hard I do think Griffin is better than Dirk.
While Griffin/Love do have the potential, and probably will be in this discussion for years to come (with me expecting Griffin to be the runaway winner of these debates IN THE FUTURE), I just do not think that their defense is up to that level yet. While Dirk is not a stopper, he is a savvy vet. He is intelligent and crafty on that end and does make a difference (he makes more of a difference on that end than both Griffin and Love right now). Meanwhile Dirk is superior offensively to both of those guys (he just has a more complete game. If the game is on the line, I would want the ball in Dirk's hands over both of those) and does everything else solid. I think it is Dirk for sure right now (despite the not so Nowitzki-like start to this season).
As far as greatest ever goes, Griffin, while he has the potential, has WAYS AND WAYS to go before he reaches the level of Chuck/Malone (let alone TD).
Griffin is really bad on defense. Griffin is very meh in the halfcourt. You still can't run an offense around either Blake Griffin or Kevin Love and expect to be really successful.
Griffin right now, is closer to Amare than being the greatest PF of all time... He is a long ways off...He's the hot ticket seller right now... That doesnt mean that will translate into NBA legend...
Thats true. I dont understand the hype around Griffin, hes a good dunker and he stuffs the stats sheet thats all. Impact on the game? Not so much except for those highlight dunks.
I'm a clippers fan as well, and I say Dirk is the best PF in the game. Aldridge is second. Love is third and Griffin is fourth. Griffin has a crazy ton of offensive potential, but his defense is at scola level right now. That has to change.
Kevin Love is an absolute monster on the low block. If you don't think you could run an offense through him, you're crazy.
Griffin has tremendous upside. Hell, I like the kid a lot myself, but at this point his game is so immature. He's just a stunt dunker. He has no other refined skills - zero post game and an awful mid range jump shot. He can't even hit a free throw. Love's numbers may dip on a better team, but I'm not sure why the while world is not fawning at his feet. Maybe these superstars are on to something with this need to be in a big market.
Blake's clippers were 18 games under .500 last year. Teammates matter. Michael Jordan himself had 3 years of under .500 teams. Love is the best pf in the game. Period.
