Yes, it was because he had bad form when lifting weights. After he fixed it they didnt appear again. These injuries are rare for nba players and not as serious as back esp for big men. Also important about horford is that he has continued to add things to his game even now. He has added a 3 pnter this year. Yes he could have been. But the Suns gm whats his name will not give him for free. He even got value for Morris. While Horford was never great at rebounding its important to note that his numbers are also affected by Atlantas defensive sheme. Whiteside isnt an only dunk center. Not that he has a great post game but he has a hookshot and a little jumper. His problem is passing out of the double teams. I dont blindly trust DRPM but for these guys these stats agree with the eye test. They are all bad defenders. Fournier is also a ball stopper. As for the bottom of the barrel neither Aldrich nor Biyombo belong there.
Let's just swap Brewer for any one of these guys. Seriously, what could we possibly trade of value to get any of these guys? I also don't believe that point guard is where we should focus, but my arguments have been well stated in holic's thread.
I don't think Biyombo is the bottom of the barrel. I think he'll get paid. Less than Whiteside though. To me, there are a handful of players who are worth way, way more than the Max. But you have 30 teams. So, you have a bunch of teams that are going to get way, way less ROI on their max deals. So, I don't like just throwing away Max contracts cuz we can. That's how you end up with Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay. I am always more intrigued by the role players on the value contracts like hopefully the guys in the 3&D list. I am not excited about giving Conley or Batum the max. That's how you guarantee yourself mediocrity. The market is largely set by non-championship contenders.
He can also hit 3's, FT's and pick and pop with Harden. Opens up the floor. The biggest downfall of Harden/Howard is their games/styles of play did not mesh. Harden meshes with Beasley & Dmo. He would mesh wonderfully with Horford. And Horford is a 2 way player. Good fit.
Jared Dudley & Courtney Lee. Both would be great role players. In the Random Trade thread I proposed a trade for PJ Tucker. KJ McDaniels + TJ (salary matching) for PJ Tucker. Gritty role players.
Yeah, absolutely, i love Horford. He's not a superstar, not even close, but he's a great player, there's nothing he can't do well -> on both sides of the floor. He's also smart, moves the ball well...it's just that kind of player able to fit in every system.
I agree, i just think that Lee will be paid by the Hornets, maybe we'll have better chance with Dudley since he seems to be in love with Harden  And i would also like Tucker, cyberx said we were interested in him at the deadline.
Hard to tell imo. He's restricted, the Warriors can match and who knows what they're going to do...Bogut is gettin old and he expires next year, a lot of people between Warriors fans think that Ezeli is a very smart guy, with great work ethic which is improved in these past seasons, and they say that he'll be the starter by next year, but i'm not sure they're going to match a big contract.
Horford seems great except for the rebounding concern. I'm nervous seeing 12 RPG walk out with Dwight and only 7 RPG walk back in with Horford, esp. when we're a really bad rebounding team. I don't know about the defensive scheme. To me, it feels like when ppl say DMo rebounds poorly b/c he "focuses on boxing out." Unless a big man has designs on being a go-to post-up center, I don't even know why they try to develop a hook shot and all that. Reminds me of when CD worked with Asik on posting up. We were never going to take the ball out of Harden's hands to feature Asik - for obvious, good reasons. The jump shot sounds good, but I am skeptical. I'm glad you can support the defensive stats, b/c there really aren't good defensive stats, which makes it tougher on me. Best I can do is look at DRPM and the NBA.com stats - if they agree, then I figure there is truth there. How much do you think Aldrich & Biyombo will be paid? Will they be overpaid? Frye would be real cool, but he doesn't rebound well.
Ezeli's stats look great. I'd be real interested in him. Only concerns are 1) injury concerns and 2) whether he will get paid a premium for his association with the Warriors.
And they got to pay Barnes.... Ezeli and Capela would be nice for the next few years. Ezeli/Capela ?/Harrell ?/Beasley Harden/? Pat/? I know I said Pat shouldn't start in another thread....but he's on a really cheap deal..with the right players around him and a better back up PG than Terry, we could still limit his minutes.
Why do you like Harrell so much? IMO, he doesn't rebound enough as a big man, considering he isn't good enough at anything else to compensate. Did Beasley get many minutes at SF this year? Beasley doesn't seem like he can defend too many SF's in today's NBA.
