I've recently purchased a MacBook Pro and finally got around to figuring out how to capture clips on here. This Jazz game was the only game I had left on my DV-R and thought I'd share this with y'all. A little bit of real basketball during the offseason
Thanks Batkins. Kevin Martin is one of the quietest scorers in the league. I look up at the score board and he already has 30 points. Smoove.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems normal to me. Aren't those seats normally bought by corporate execs?
Well... not to mention we didn't exactly have a stellar groundbreaking season either. In other seasons (in which we were more successful) those seats were still somewhat filled.
I remember that game well. It was near the end of the season, and I was considering getting tickets. Sounds silly now, but the conventional wisdom was that the Jazz were going to humiliate the Rockets on their home court. Utah had been playing some great basketball at the time, and I believe they had actually risen as high as #2 in the West. All the playoff teams were separated by only a game or two, of course. I decided that I couldn't stand to pay to see the Rockets lose to the Jazz, so I got tix to some other game for the final stretch. Judging from the crowd, I wasn't the only one who skipped it. Of course, the Rockets had no problem with Utah, who I seem to recall had played in an overtime game the night before and were exhausted. God willing, we witnessed the birth of a new Jazz Killer: Kevin Martin, who ran Utah ragged with his fakes on the perimeter and his streaks on the fast break. Martin loves to play against hackers like the Jazz defense, and he finished quite a few 3-pt plays that game.
I knew We would beat the living crap out of Utah that game. Utah had just played that ridiculous game (game of the year IMO) vs. OKC the Night before. They didn't get to Houston until 4 in the morning. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap?gid=2010040626
i went. i actually commited heresy by bringing a jazz fan, but i was giggling on the inside for the spanking that the rockets put on the jazz. its like sleeping with someones wife while they are in the room.
I think why Martin doesnt get the praise he gets is because he isnt a setup man, but a finisher, and those guys dont get the love. Martin gets his points in the flow of the offense...instead of guys like LeBoner and Wade who need to dominate the ball to score. I would much rather have a team ball oriented player than a I AM THE TEAM player due to the fact people can play off each other and win.
