As requested. I'll use the OP as a playbook index, that -- time allowing -- I'll try to update throughout the year. 1.) Early Offense - - - 2.) Half-Court Offense - Staggered Screen Option (added 01/14) - Screen-The-Screener Set (added 01/14) - - - - - - - 3.) Baseline & Sideline Out of Bounds - -
First up is a screen-the-screener set the Bucks have had successfully in their playbook for quite some time now. I've always liked this set, as the Bucks seemingly get a good shot out of this set nearly every single time when the execution is on point. The Rockets struggled a bit with the execution early on -- the timing really has to be on point for it effective -- but lately the execution has been pretty good and when they do go to it (haven't done so a whole lot lately), it seems more often than not they do get a good shot out of it. As with most sets there are ways to disrupt it and if the defense is pressuring the ball and physical on screens this won't work quite as often. However, if the there is no ball pressure and the defense isn't very physical on screens then this is a very good set to go to IMO. They run this set about two or three times a game and have pretty consistently gotten good shots out of it. At times they won't go to the second staggered screen and just from watching it seems like on average not doing so hasn't quite worked as well for them. In all the clips below the Rockets are using both staggered screens. but if this thread gets fleshed out, how will clutchfans hate on McHale's offense? everyone here knows we average 105 fast break points a game.
Very nice - would rep you if I could - but seems I don't have the rights (or haven't earned it). Will be following this! Thanks!
Thanks guys. I am editing and uploading all of these, yes. As for requests, I'll see what I can do it. Kinda depends on the request(s). How time consuming is it? Does it interest me? Do I think it's worth highlighting, etc.. I actually thought about this. The stagger screen option teams appear to have scouted by now. Both the Celtics and Philly assistant coaches were calling out the play/screens as the play was unfolding. Advanced scouts of teams usually watch at least 2-3 recent games of opposing teams before playing them, so this set certainly should be on every team's scouting report. The screen-the-screen set I'm not quite sure. As I mentioned the Rockets haven't gone to it a whole lot lately, so teams actually may not have a great deal of tape on it. I honestly don't think it will make a difference, but if the Rockets feel like it puts them at a disadvantage I'd obviously take these down again (just shoot me an e-mail to multiplesauces ät gmäil döt cöm).
