He was the 24th best point guard via RAPM last year. He's always graded pretty solidly with RAPM. I think he's a nice safe player. Similar to Jameer Nelson. I honestly don't see the steep decline coming. Has he peaked? Sure. But I think he'll keep playing at this level for a whle
He played the lowest minutes of his career last year at 20.5. He's injury prone and getting into the declining age. It may not be a horrible contract, but is he an asset? No one would want a 33 year old Devin Harris on their team. He wouldn't be a nice piece in a trade package like, say, Pat Bev. We are talking about flexibility and being able to create cap room. There's no way they can move him easily.
I don't see the Mavs WANTING to move either of those contracts. Ellis is a HUGE discount at that price (20/4/6)...borderline All Star. What other All star caliber players are out there for $8M? ???

Dirk is the only all star caliber player on a non rookie deal out there at 8m, and that includes Ellis.
Whoops, too soon:

LeBron-stopper J.J. Bev is a million dollars in cap space. They can move Harris for a late second round pick to a contender pretty comfortably. That's 4 million dollars
