"Dish Network Open to offering CSN-Houston on A-La-Carte Basis" http://blog.chron.com/sportsupdate/2014/06/dish-network-open-to-idea-of-csn-houston-on-a-la-carte-basis/ Recent Sports Illustrated article: http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2014/06/csn_houston_still_bankrupt.php?page=2 "That's where things stand with CSN Houston. Optimism towards this network surviving behind a new organizational plan that gets the Astros the value the team desires has to be slight. Cable/satellite providers are balking at the fees. There's no real network demand among the populace. The judge responsible for ruling on the appeal of the bankruptcy order is twiddling his thumbs, and the Rockets and Astros still aren't being paid the money owed under the media rights agreement."
I can vouch for him. By July 4th, this whole thing with either be resolved or it will not be resolved. I can guarantee it.
Thanks for posting, but all the carriers have offered to carry CSN a-la-carte. CSN has always said no because they wouldn't make any money that way. And no regional sports network in the country is carried a-la-carte. So, not really news per se.
Underlined part: Then get him to recuse himself for a judge who gives a ****. Bolded part: Then isn't that a breach of contract? Can't the Rockets just get out of the agreement? (Naturally it isn't so simple and I'm no lawyer....)
It's absolutely a breach of the contract...and the Astros were on their way to exercising their rights to get out of the deal entirely because of it....when the bankruptcy was filed. That stops everything....
Haven't followed this closely, but I'm pretty sure the parties are the ones asking the judge for more time to come up with a "viable plan" to restructure or dissolve the partnership. I think at one point Les was looking into buying out one or both of the other partners.
That time has passed. The Astros have a motion pending to dismiss the bankruptcy so that both the Astros and Rockets can start negotiating with other carriers about getting their product on the air and to the public. The last thing the Rockets filed was a letter to the Court saying they had tried to find deals (when they were appointed lead negotiator) and there were none out there to be had with the various carriers...and they went on to say that unless Comcast buys the whole thing out, there's not going to be a resolution. Comcast subsequently said they were no longer interested in a buy out. so we wait...again...still....
Why yes, just get your ballstreams subscription, get an apple tv or whatever that let's you display the game on your computer to the tv and EUREKA every Rockets game! Bonus: you also get every other NBA game too. Yay Ballstreams!
...just wanted to check on this again, Rockets games are still going to be on CSN until further notice?
I went to the post draft luncheon for season ticket holders and someone asked about CSN on other networks. Rockets CEO Tad Brown said he is (paraphrasing) "very confident that all of Houston will be able to watch the Rockets this season on TV." Someone also asked Daryl what the likelihood of getting a top-tier free agent this off season was and he also said he was very confident. So I guess take it for what it's worth.
...or you can enter 007 373 5963 on your remote to see the Rockets games. As an added bonus you can fight Mike Tyson.
