I've been on the Conner bandwagon for two years. Watched the kid since high school. Although he played more DE till his senior year. Had a higher rated recruit a year his senior. That kid went to Iowa and flamed out after one nonproductive year. He's a perfect O'Brien back. Hasn't been featured in the pass game at Pitt, due to the system, but will be this year. Expect him to go early second or late first when its said and done. He dropped ten pounds this off season to get quicker. Supposedly runs a 4.4 at 6'2 230ish. Jerome Bettis with a little shake. Most underrated back in college football, although he's quietly getting some press. He's a good kid. Total Texan and O'Brien material.
Yeah the kid is special. And I totally agree about him being Texan and obrien material. I also wonder if he just happen to be at Pitt pro day last year while obrien was also there. But I'm not going to lie I would rather him be 240-250. He models his game after beast mode.
If he shows hands this year and runs a 4.4 at 240, he'll probably be an easy first round pick, even with a crowded RB field.
yeah I'd be in for Fred Jackson at a reasonable cost. I think he'd be a good fill-in and would immediately supplant all others as Arian's backup when he comes back. Would also help cut Arian's workload slightly to try and keep him healthy (without such a significant dropoff to Blue)
I say give him a shot. You know even if Arian comes back sooner he will still find a way to get injured again.
Even at his age, Fred is better than any RB on our team besides Foster. Even when he comes back, you got somebody to share the workload with Foster
For most RBs who've carried a full load year after year, I'd agree. But he's spent his career splitting carries with Marshawn Lynch and CJ Spiller. He has fewer career carries than Arian Foster. I wouldn't be surprised if there's still some tread on the tire. And it's not like we'd be asking him to be full time here either. Even at 34, he might be good for 10-15 carries a game until Arian gets back.
He's boys with Beast Mode. He'll probably team up with him in Seattle and show the fans of Buffalo how their running backs should of properly been used.
