Yes, saw that as well. I will be so glad when he is finally gone. It would be poetic justice if Man City ends up 5th in the PL.
Hope someone asks Pep about not bringing in Thiago and Götze, want to know wtf was going on his head.
Remember how many Munich fans talked so much **** about how they were going to dominate football and "win everything" with Pep at the helm 3 years ago. lmao fail.
With a couple of hours passed, this one still hurts. In contrast to the last two years, our guys were really close and would've deserved to advance. We may argue about Pep, I'm not sure either why he didn't bring fresh legs at least for the last few minutes. Still, this one is very much on Müller. If he makes that penalty and we're up 2-0 early, Atlético doesn't come back. This way we're pretty much punished for one mistake in 90 minutes, but that's Simeone's style, next to toughness and b****ing around. I hope Atlético wins it now, they deserve it way more than the two other teams left. Bayern's gotta win the cup final to make it two trophies and hope for Ancelotti to even improve this squad. I'm optimistic, especially if we can bring Hummels and maybe an additional striker. We'll be back!
There is also something to be said about not being at your best/most confident in a situation like that when your coach has put you in a position of unnecessary debate and discussion about your status on the team for the whole week in the first leg of the matchup. The key thing is that Guardiola played a lineup that was designed to not lose by a lot in Madrid - instead of playing the best players and instead of playing a lineup that is totally aimed at getting that away goal.
Müller didn't do well last few weeks, so it wasn't completely out of mind to bench him, although Pep's lineup was a mistake. I just don't understand why he took the penalty in the first place. Now he missed four of the last eight. That's not acceptable since we have good alternatives in Lewandowski and Vidal.
Pep has to know this (Müller missing 3 outta 7 prior to the game) and should've decided to let someone else shoot, clear coaching mistake. And as ATW said, benching Müller last week and not giving him a definite role doesn't help either. Read something about Vidal having one of the best penalty-%s in Europe, was 3rd out of all active players last year (around 83% success rate). Crazy we don't let him shoot penalties more often.
Just looked it up, 87% and 27/31 penalties as of early 2015. Think he's actually first now, as he Hit a few more for Juve.
If Arsenal beats City, and Man U wins out...****ing Guardiola doesn't play Champions League next season? Never will I have rooted for Arsenal this much.
That's right and it would be very nice. A draw would be even be enough from that game. Definetely a task Arsenal could manage against the charlatans of City. But Utd winning three in a row with that mind numbingly boring uninspired style of football makes it highly unlikely unfortunately.
