I'm just talking hypothetically so please don't murder me guys. Curry 3pt% took a huge dip this year with the departed Jared Jack who was running the offense while Curry is spotting up. To put it in perspective, Curry's corner 3 is at the lowest 29% while back in Jack's tenure, it was over 50% Curry is the only player in the NBA who consistently get double teamed beyond the 3 point line. This usually open up a hole in the defense for him to exploit with one pass away. If GSW somehow acquires Lin they have two guards who will create havoc on offense. You'll have a top 5 penetration player in Lin and arguably the best 3 pt shooter in Curry. Look what Lin did with Novak in NYC. Imagine that but with Curry's vision and playmaking. Lin will basically run an offense 5v4 since Curry will often get double team. Stephen Jackson LOVES to run a lot of pg plays (since he was a pg himself) and thats what Lin excels at. Curry gets 4-5 screens on one plays sometimes. With that said, realistically speaking... I don't see Morey giving GSW this offensive weapon. Lin isn't ALL THAT GREAT, but he's like a lighter waiting to be striked onto a sea of gasoline with the GSW. This system in GSW is ideal Linsanity situation. But I can see Lin going to GSW in his free agency Lin and Curry are best friends, Lin is also good friends with David Lee. I can see them talking to Lin about it if they wanted him. The pg situation doesn't fit Lin in Houston. Bev is the clear point guard here, he fits with Houston, he fits with Harden. (I don't want to argue with people about this topic, I used to be a fan of Lin starting, but I saw how Bev fits) People say bring Lin in for offensive spark but honestly, I feel Houston main problem is defense. They can score in bunches but needs stopper. With Brook and Caanan (who looks like he will be very good in the league), Houston doesn't look like the best place for Lin Lin grew up in Cali and it was his dream to play for the GSW The reason why he didn't work out in GSW was because they had TOO MUCH guards when he was picked up. Now they are in need of a playmaker that can alleviate the pressure from Curry. Stephen Jackson is a pastor, Lin's confidence issue will be gone I believe. Plus Jackson will run a lot of plays for Lin, (I'm not sure about this, this is purely my guess but I can see them selling Lin with this) Imagine Lin, one of the best pnr guard, running the elevator doors <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/spap2mBdAag" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> How scary would GSW be if they aquire Lin wheter it is through trade or FA
Honestly, it would help them a lot. They desperately need another guy next to Curry who can create offense for others. Their offense is the worst in the league with Curry on the bench. With Lin, you can spread the floor with shooters and allow him to run pick and roll versus backups.
Anything that would take the ball outta Steph Curry's hands is good news for the rest of the league. Did you see Lin in the playoffs last year?
Lin and Curry in the backcourt together?..... The defense would be HORRIBLY bad..... I cannot imagine...
Yeah, I mean, an honest response would be: look at what they did last year with Jarrett Jack. And there you go. That's what you'd have.
OP, we honestly need a "meh" option. I don't think it would make them worse, for sure (well, depending on what they would have to give up for Lin of course), but I don't think Lin makes them a whole lot better. If they gave up nothing to get him, he makes them marginally better. What their second unit needs (and I live near them, get to follow them) is a lock-down defender and distributor, IMHO.
