In the Canaan watch, tonight , 20 minutes, 9 pts, 0 assists and a whopping -22.

He may not even make an NBA tea next season, at this rate.

Remember all the people who thought Canaan should start for the Rockets?

Isaiah Canaan moved out of 76ers' point guard rotation

    Read more at http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/...point-guard-rotation.html#qyB8TZO8GZ1rhKjV.99

CLEVELAND - It appears the point guard position for the 76ers will no long be manned by Isaiah Canaan, who began the season as the starter at that spot.

The steady play of T.J. McConnell has thrust him into the starting lineup and the signing of Phil Pressey means that he will back up McConnell. Canaan, the best shooter of the three, will get whatever minutes are available to him at the shooting guard spot, with perhaps a few scattered minutes at the point.

“He will still have some point guard in him from time to time but right now I don’t see it immediately like that,” said coach Brett Brown at the team’s morning shootaround at Quicken Loans Arena where they’ll meet the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night. “We’ll probably go with Phillip and T.J. carrying that 48-minute load. Maybe Isaiah will come in if we really need to score.

“When we all sort step back and say ‘What does he do,’ he shoots. And so that counts for something when you have a post player like Jahlil (Okafor). So now how do I find that quality? We especially miss it without (Robert) Covington. I see (Canaan) coming in and playing and I see it more now as a two. What has to happen for that to more easily happen is you have to feel comfortable that the matchups aren’t killing you. If they are rolling out 6-7 and 6-9 two and three men, well then maybe that isn’t such a good idea.”

This is simply more of Philly wanting to lose games. They can't lose and look ok doing it with Canaan in there. If they turn Canaan loose over there, he'd drag them to 30 wins by himself.

Nobody's complaining about Westbrook and all his chucking. All you have to do is go look at Canaan's performances at RGV to see what he can do and how he creates for his teammates by causing multiple defenders to have to react to him going to the hole or juking and shooting it. he's not a pick-and-roll specialist. He's simply an unselfish scorer that will dish the ball to wide-open teammates for high-quality open looks when the D has to collapse on him because he is chewing all the meat off their shinbone. Canaan is a 6' James Harden. He can shoot it from anywhere and he creates assists off his scoring prowess. Philly doesn't want him playing his game. They don't want to win games. They're trying to top the lottery.

This guy is a better player than guys like Aaron Brooks, Jason Terry, TJ McConnell, and a slew of other point guards in the association. Taking nothing way from them but Canaan is an electric offensive player when you give him the basketball and get out of the way....in the same way the Rockets give Harden the basketball and get out of his way.

He'll find his way in this league. Some playoff team will take a flyer on him. And he'll light somebody up down the road. Bank on it.

    He's terrible and that's why he's benched.

He barely averages more than 1 assist per 1 turnover.

Did I just see basketballholic compare Westbrook and Harden to Isaiah Canaan?

What a time to be alive

Not trolling. Look at what they're doing in Philly. Now they're starting an undrafted rookie. They are trying to lose games, man. They can't have Canaan or anybody else taking away from that.

They're starting an undrafted rookie because he's better.

The FO puts together a team that's young and going to lose, but day to day the coach is putting his best team out there.

Canaan is simply terrible. He has no ability to penetrate or break down the defense

They're starting an undrafted rookie because he'll pass the ball......to the other guys on the team who can't score the ball as well as Canaan can. Get it?
