Tracy McGrady is one of the greatest players to ever put on a Rockets jersey. Despite the team's inability to get past the first round and the fact that T-Mac only got as far as the second round* wearing a Rockets jersey, individually he was amazing for us. He averaged about 22.4 ppg in his 5 years with Rockets (not counting 09-10). During his time in Houston he had some pretty memorable moments and was a fan favorite, 13 points in 33 seconds, 41 at New Orleans, 23 foot game winner vs Dallas. "What If? or What could've been?" Are questions that surrounds T-Mac and his time with the Rockets, injuries and bad luck are the main factors of the mid to late 2000's team failure to succeed in the Playoffs. T-Mac left the Rockets on a bad note in a trade to the Knicks in 2010, but still the man is a Rockets legend, sure he is no Hakeem Olajuwon but he is a player that I will never forget. I believe his jersey should be retired and immortalized at Toyota Center. One of the most entertaining players to watch ever. Do other Rockets fans feel the same way? Especially those who had a chance to watch the mid to late 2000's team. "He had all the skills and all the athleticism, but he was 6'9"- Kobe Bryant.
inserts Toronto game link... look at this embarrassing... you're not a true fan maan he was let down by a horrible cast and front office, it's natural 13 in 33, my favourite moment yea, his beat Moment wasn't even in the playoffs, typical T-Mac. his best postseason moment was eating a big mac. He had one of the highest playoff averages ever and gave it all, we need someone like him, Rockets legend lol he let down our team and never got past the first round, embarrassing. His supporting cast was horrible, that's why he never had more success. the same supporting cast that got past the first round when he finally sat down? Delusional TOFs. Despite his playoff failures he still was one of the best to ever play the game and we should acknowledge it, please reine his Jersey. Typical TOFs, we know that rings don't count for them, let's put up Lin's Jersey, too. We can close this thread now, everything has been said.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjbkXewxlGI T-Mac is a punk. His jersey should be retired to the dumpster, so no one has to wear it again.
tmac is in the same category as pippen. they quit on the team. i don't even like when les has tmac sit courtside with him. i understand that tmac helped make him a lot of money, but still. retiring tmac's jersey would be a disgrace to the whole team.
T-Mac was awesome but he didn't even really play his best basketball in Houston. His days in Orlando were much more exciting to watch in comparison (Not by too much and subjectively speaking). He also never did anything barring the 13 in 33 seconds that would be immortalized in the basketball realm. No championships, no MVPs, no scoring titles and most importantly...no first round exits. Honestly. His time in Houston might have actually been to Houston's detriment since we are considered the team that can't get out of the first round. That is our stigma and it was only last year, with Harden, that we shed that perception.
This is laughable. If he ever gets his jersey retired (he definitely should not), then you can make the case for about a half dozen other guys. Shouldn't be a participation award. If his jersey is retired, it'll be the worst thing Les Alexander has done, a far greater sin than the logo tweaks.
Losers dont get a jersey retirement. And we are not even talking about just any loser. We are talking about one of the biggest losers in the history of the game. It would be disgrace for the franchise to retire his jersey.
Trevor ariza was critical for helping us get to the western conference finals, but i don't think we should retire trevor ariza .
Vince Carter never really got a good line of signature sneaks. I remember 1 or 2 yrs of Shox something but had no Air Canada or Air Vince logo on it.
T-mac, are you kidding me? The guy who faked an injury so he wouldn't get traded, chose the opponent to win the series and almost never gave it his all on the court? Yao, Mutombo, Thorpe & Kenny Smith deserve it more than he does.
