Projected Dallas Mavericks Roster for 2015-2016 Season

I might get league pass just to watch the Mavs suck every night.

 

Their starting lineup could be good if DWill finds new life and ZaZa can play decent post defense. Hard to see them making the playoffs though.

How does Cuban get away with talking so much smack... and then assembling this crappy roster?

Really we oughta organize something where somebody twitters him everyday with his quotes about our lack of chemistry blah blah blah... or some other dig... lol

 

To expect the Mavs to make the NBA playoff is kind of like expecting Vanderbilt to play in the NCAA football playoff next season.

 

There's a ton of incentive to suck. The problem is Cuban has assembled a roster of players just good enough to win 35-40 games(and possibly more) which would leave the Mavs well outside of the top 7 in the lottery unless they get a lucky bounce with the ping pong balls.

I don't know what the dude is thinking. I get that he's got pride and that he's never had a season before where the Mavs didn't at least have good odds to make the playoffs if not win the whole thing. But that time has passed. All he's doing is delaying the inevitable. And he'll wind up wasting this season if they don't get to the postseason(which seems almost certain) and don't have a lottery pick to show for it.

 

he can't really do that. he and dirk backed themselves into the corner.

 

We all know what he is thinking. He's thinking if Morey and Les can build a contender from spare parts without tanking, so can he.

 

Where do I begin with this roster? It's like Allen, Cuban, and the Buss's have a secret side bet on who can suck the least.

Also as an FYI, Cuban signed Matthews to 70m/4. He was a decent 3 and D player prior to to his blowing out his Achilles tendon but, even then, I highly doubt he was even worth that much pre-injury.

Let that sink in to our collective heads; 7-0-Fn-Million for a role player recovering from a blown out Achilles. Either Matthews has some incriminating photos or Cuban went on an 8 ball and Ayahuasca marathon after DJ reneged on their agreement when he agreed to sign that contract. What went into that thought process?

 

Who is going to attract enough attention to create open shots? I don't understand why they were so fast to pay Wesley Matthews more than Monta Ellis. They don't really seem to have anyone who can consistently break down defenses off the dribble. I predict low 30's for wins as well.

 

Sure, it's possible. But Morey spent years stockpiling assets. What does Cuban have right now that he could ship out if a player like Harden were to suddenly become available? He's squandered years of draft picks and he likely won't have the 2016 1st round pick at all.

Just keep in mind, it took the Rockets 3 straight lotto seasons and 2 straight 1st round defeats before they finally put together a team that was able to reach the WCF. And even that didn't go anywhere near according to plan after last summer's offseason.

In other words, Cuban, even if he blew up his roster now, may be looking at a very long trek back to contending for a title. And instead he keeps trying to reload around a now 37 year-old Dirk. He may wind up dragging out what should take 5 years into a full decade.

 

Naw, it's a waste of good money. Your money would do more good if donated to a worthwhile charity. What makes this so much fun to watch is that the MBT (Mavs Brain Trust) is soooo arrogant and clueless that they will be the first people to be surprised when they miss the playoffs next season.

 

Well, the OFFICIAL excuse er reason given is that Dirk has done soooo very much for this franchise that they OWE it to him (or his memory) to not tank and rebuild but instead try their very darndest to field a competitive team around Dirk as long as he can walk onto a basketball court. Truth is that Cuban and the rest of the so-called Mavs Brain Trust have largely wasted Dirk's most productive years with Cuban's questionable approach to building a championship team. The Count is right in pointing out that all they are doing is delaying the inevitable suck that is to come.

 

Might lose a couple games just due to this.
