You're upset Larry Sanders is *potentially* signing with Dallas?

Larry / Zaza / Dalembert / Javale seems like excess (numbers-wise), but I don't get the impression Javale is playing anytime soon.

Once upon a time, Larry Sanders demonstrated legit game changing defensive talent. Id hate for any rival to try and tap into that.

Yes, he could go the way of Odom, but you also have to consider Carlisle's successes (Ellis, Aminu, etc).

LOL I'm sorry but nobody can help a player's motivation apart from himself. Money, competition and the NBA lifestyle are already some of the best motivations, encouragement and enticement you need millions of people push themselves to the limit just to reach that NBA dream. If a player still lacks motivation then I don't think any external factor like a coach can help him. Guys like Ellis are a different case because the passion for bball have always been there, Carlisle was just able to channel that energy in a positive direction.

In Sander's case he lost that passion last year, unless he had some kind of b-ball epiphany I think his desire to play has to do with getting more cash than actually enjoying playing ball again. Defense has more to do with effort and willingness to stop the other guy than talent, so IMHO the chances of him coming back and being a dominant defensive anchor is slim. More likely he will sign with the Mavs for a ton of dough and then Sam Dalembert/Rasheed Wallace the entire season while collecting them checks.

^ I mostly agree with you. My statement was based upon the assumption that he actually wanted to make a return for the right reasons.

Seeing as how he just landed in H-town to work on music, it's obvious that not much has changed.

I still stand by my assertion. I'd hate for him to make a successful comeback on the Mavs.

Do we actually know that Sanders is visiting the Mavs or are we basing this all of a tweet?

I live in Texas, big state. Most of it isn't Dallas, thank god.
