Admittedly, I knew very little about Mr. Courtney Lee our new SG. So, if you got some info on our shiny new player, post the info here, with links. Here is a great article from Draft express about him, called then and now: Good article on Courtney Lee Here is a small sample: ------------------------------------------------------- If you ask Courtney Lee how he can help an NBA franchise next season, his initial answer might surprise you. ‘Off the court I believe I have good character, I carry myself well and I don’t have any baggage.’ While most players are quick to point out their shooting prowess or ability to get the ball into the hands of a star player, Lee takes the more unconventional route by discussing his strength of character. Now: We’ll begin this installment of rookie retrospectives the same way that Courtney Lee began his interview with us a year ago, by talking about his character. We learned a lot about Lee and saw that he is a unique individual who brings a lot more to a team than any box score could ever show, going about his business the right way and conducting himself similarly to guys like Chauncey Billups or Shane Battier. Lee rarely complains to the officials, always puts forth the effort, and does exactly what Stan Van Gundy asks of him; he just “gets it”. Starting for a Stan Van Gundy team doesn’t happen too often for a rookie, which speaks volumes of the trust and confidence he has in Lee to get the job done. It’s certainly a testament to Lee’s talent level, but it has a lot to do with his maturity as well and his unselfish nature, which is critical on a team with many elite scorers. He carries himself well on the court, exuding a quiet confidence and a positive demeanor which allows him to shine without taking away from the stars. ------------------------------------------------------------- Anyone else got somestuff to read about him? DD
Strong finisher around the basket Pesky defender Good shooter with range Mad hops Moves well without the ball Posted this in the reaction thread: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hBe8uzI6wg8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hBe8uzI6wg8?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
CL will primarily be at the 2 and CB will primarily be at the 3 our backups for each position seems set 1 - KL 2 - CL 3 - CB 4 - JH if he can keep his head out of his ass, otherwise we got other bigs to fill in 5 - BM
That is a very solid well balanced second unit. Our bench is going to win us alot of games this season.
Courtney Lee played for Orlando there Finals run and started? But played good defense against Kobe very solid defender which is good b/c Martin is not great and Lee can hit the 3
I've been a big Trevor supporter since he's came here, but I LOVE this trade. C-Lee is a great talent, but I will miss Trev.
Yep, that was him. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/T3ari8OjYhA?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/T3ari8OjYhA?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
[rquoter]NBA Comparison: Bobby Phills Aran Smith - 2/22/2008 Strengths: Prolific scorer with excellent outside shooting ability ... Knocks down a high volume of 3 pointers and with good efficiency (40%) ... Has a picture perfect shot with a quick release and can get his shot off with just an inch of daylight ... Strong one on one skills with good ball handling and scoring ability ... Shoots well off the dribble or spotting up ... Shows a solid ability to get by his man and finish at the rim ... Does a good job of drawing fouls and getting to the line where he effectively knocks down over 80% of his foul shots ... Has an advanced mid-range game. Does a good job of cutting his drive off before committing a charge and hitting mid-range jumpers or floaters ... Mature decision maker, unselfish player who rarely forces bad shots ... Composed player having four years of experience under his belt ... Has shown improvement in his ball protection and passing ability, raising his a/to ratio considerably from his junior to senior year ... A strong competitor, high character guy ... A solid defender who gets a fair number of pilfers (1.8 spg), though less impressive considering the conference he plays in ... His NBA readiness is better than most with 4 years of experience and a polished offensive game ... Weaknesses: Not a physical marvel with average athletic ability (by NBA standards) ... He's small for the 2-guard position at between 6-4 and 6-5 with short arms ... Gets a little careless with the ball off the dribble ... Can be a little overaggressive defensively resulting in foul trouble ... Playing at a mid-major, his level of competition gets questioned. 20 ppg doesn't have the same "bling" in the Sun Belt Conference, and in a high octane offense ... Has good quickness, but will struggle to create shots as effectively against bigger and more athletic defenders ... While he is more NBA ready than most, he lacks the upside of a number of the other 2-guard prospects available ... His passing ability is neither great nor terrible. If a teammate is open, he find him, but rarely makes plays to create scoring opportunities for others ... A solid defender but his lack of length and great athleticism will make defending a chore for him at the next level ... Would probably be a better defender if he wasn't forced to spend so much energy on the offensive end ... Notes: Impressed scouts with his play in scrimmages at the 2007 LeBron James skills camp ... Just stuff I could find in a quick search to contribute: Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtney_Lee Draft Scouting as a raw rookie coming out of W. Kentucky: http://www.thedraftreview.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3755 Nets scouting report: http://netsarescorching.com/2009/10/01/scouting-report-courtney-lee/
Yea, that site is pretty sketchy, in general. Just figured I'd throw it out there. I don't know enough about Lee to comment either way.
I always liked him in Orlando, didn`t really follow him in NJ. His driving ability, his outside shot, and his defense are all pretty good. If you take a look at our team now... wow... besides Yao we have no real star, but we have one of the most well rounded teams with at least 2 real quality players on each position: Brooks/Lowry Martin/Lee Battier/Buddinger Scola/Hill/Patterson/Hayes Yao/Miller From a talent level, I see us at least close to the Detroit championship team... if Yao can go back to his pre injury form, this team looks really, really scary. I actually do believe, this team can`t get much better without going after a superstar. Because we don`t have any real weakness on any position right now, and you can`t get much better role players than we have right now. But of course the defense will be the big questionmark. Brooks, Martin, Buddinger, Scola and also Miller ain´t the best defenders... actually our back court could be in real trouble sometimes. We will have to score big to win some games... but with those players we could put up Pheonix style numbers.
