This was inspired in the other movie stream thread. Obviously, Netflix isn't what it used to be as far as new movies / better selections. And although it doesn't amount to its past, IMO they still throw in a good deal of cinema gems, they just aren't the latest movies to leave the theaters or movies that aren't house hold titles and many people miss out on. So I figured for all of the CF Netflix heads we could keep this active for whenever we a) find those gems through either friends or mere curiosity to recommend to others here or b) give the community the heads up for every added movie/tv show Example:: They just recently added Battle Royale 7/10 HIGHLY recommended for those who haven't heard of it yet and looking for a good foreign flick. Many people debate between this and Hunger Games which you'd understand why 10 minutes into it.. Other slept on flicks on streaming now: Exam 7.5/10 DOPE british movie with craaaaazzyyy twists. IMO The less you know going into it, the better the outcome. The Nines 7/10 GREAT movie by the same guy that wrote Big Fish and starring Ryan Reynolds. Very interesting little philosophy movie with Ryan and the two leading ladies all playing 3 characters each. Def worth checking out Brick 8/10 Awesome modern dark highschool detective movie with ya boy Gordon-Levitt playing lead. Great story, great acting, great pacing and greater style with it almost being a take on Noir in a modern setting Ummm and it looks like they just added the original I Spit on Your Grave OOOOOH! And they FINALLY got the 2nd season of Louie available!!
They've got several Ingmar Bergman movies, including Persona and Hour of the Wolf. For TV, check out Peep Show, which rivals the original office in awkward hilarity.
I do agree with the OP that Netflix has fallen off in terms of quality after losing the Starz package but Im still excited about gems they have here and there like Punch Drunk Love, Everything Must Go, The Last Exorcist and shows like Breaking Bad and Walking Dead (despite not having the latest seasons). I'm especially happy with their selection when it comes to wrestling. Being a Pro Wrestling fan, they seem to be consistent with releasing brand new wrestling DVDs and documentaries on instant which I thoroughly enjoy.
Yeah you're right, but seeing as how current WWE sucks for the most part, I'll go with the nostaligia stuff like "Best of Ladder Matches" and documentaries on The Rock, Stone Cold and Bret Hart.
There's two kinds of Netflix streaming people. Those who have Netflix and don't ever use it and those who use Netflix that watch a ton of crappy movies, just because they have Netflix, then try to justify it by saying, "well, umm, I like to use it to watch full series of TV shows". Cahhhhmon.
I have been streaming: Dr. Who and Battlestar Galactaca (almost done with the latter). I well, umm, I like to use it to watch full series of TV shows.
I actually just finished watching the series last night, "The Kill Point". Plus they have 90s nostalgia. What can beat watching old Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life episodes!?
I recently signed up again for Netflix after reading that 80% of their content is now subtitled. I haven't checked out the movies yet. I have been watching Supernatural.
The only reason to pay for Netflix instant is for TV shows and some small movie gems. Instant was so nice when they used to have deals with more companies.
Love the shows it offers and the B-movies they have up, don't really bother or expect much from it's new release stable.
