Castaway on the moon. Think castaway meets a darker Wes Anderson from South Korea. There were some scenes that I had me crying laughing.
They've got most of Ken Burns' stuff and a decent number of Frontline and American Experience eps; usually like to hit Civil War and The War at least once a quarter and go through the AmEx Presidents' episodes (FDR, Truman, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Reagan and now Clinton). Like to re-watch Empire of the Air, about Sarnoff and the radio/TV industry; the Stock Market Crash one to see some cranky old WASPs and the Frontline: Warning episode about Brooksley Born. PBS has all this stuff online as well, but they're just .wmv clips and their site just isn't meant to handle streaming. They also got the first two seasons of Parenthood, which is great if you want to see Peter Krause, Dax Shepard and Coach Hayden Fox at the top their game. The one thing they did "right" was get all of the L/O SVU and L/O Criminal Intent episodes, so as far as raw content hours they win on that front.
Just moved our Roku box to the main TV and rediscovering Netflix. Noticed Battle Royale was on there. Might give it a go.
Ken Burns' stuff is all over my que:grin: and Criminal Intent with Vincent Donofrio is good stuff, might be one of my favorite TV shows
Very awesome just for the Miami and SMU eps alone, though I think they did that just recently. What kills me is that I can't find any SportsCentury stuff in digital form, anywhere.
Even though I don't care much about Reggie Miller or the Knicks, I found Winning Time very enjoyable anyway as a Rockets fan with fond memories of the era. Really like the style the doc was edited as well.
Roku has had Netflix for a while and I noticed that Comcast / Xfinity just opened up HBO Go to Roku (unfortunately not until after I dropped HBO).
Snowtown a movie about the infamous killer John Bunting in Australia..This movie is haunting and not for the faint of hearts, but a great movie nonetheless.
Man I was looking forward to the increasingly poor decisions of... (tobias funke), & G.O.B. Unfortunately neither one of them are as funny as they were in AD. Guess that was the writing. thanks for the heads up anyway. I made it through the first 2 1/2 episodes before aborting. Does it get much better?
I enjoyed the first season throughout, it's just different comedy from AD. I've heard the 2nd season is really good.
The first season was hilarious. Some episodes were stronger than others. The second season was also good, but not quite as good as the first season. It does clear up some of the questions from the first season.
I have a question for NetFlix users. How long does it take for new releases to hit Netflix streaming? My wife wants to see Hunger Games and I wanted to catch Green Lantern. I don't see Green Lantern on there. Will it take a long time for movies to hit streaming? I thought it was similar to redbox.
For the most part, Netflix doesn't stream any movie or TV show that's actually popular; they can't afford the licensing fees, probably because they rent rather then sell retail. More likely to show up as a rental on Amazon streaming, or a full price direct purchase there or on iTunes. I'm genuinely surprised Netflix thought their "future" was in streaming.
Popular? I m guessing you mean new releases; no one offers that as part of their streaming service. Only rentals and purchases (and sometimes studios don't even let that happen until a period of time has passed.) unfortunately.
