Harden just scored 25 points for the 10th game in a row. Just checked basketball-reference.com's Player Streak Finder. No Rocket has scored 25 points in 10 straight regular season games since 1985-1986 season. Hakeem's longest such streak was 9 straight games (Feb 1995). Tracy's best was 8 straight games (Jan 2005). I'm guessing Moses may have done it a few times, though, but those stats aren't available at basketball-reference.com. Kind of cool that Harden's already setting team records in his first season.
Nice stat find. He's a consistent scorer because he drives and gets to the line so much. He's a great FT shooter too. His size, strength, quickness, and ball handling are impeccable.
League wide? Jordan had two 40 game streaks, a 21 game streak, a 19 game streak, and so on and so forth.
This guy, once settled into this offense, gets seemingly the easiest 25 pts night in night out. What a pick up.
The crazy thing about his 10 games 25 points plus scoring streak is that it looks so easy for him while Kobe, in some of the games worked so hard... A lot of people still wouldn't understand why Harden left OKC and they kept criticizing Harden for not signing the extension with OKC but he sure does have a reason why he wants to be the man. When he was in OKC, he was a great player already but people were constantly saying he's lucky because he is always open all the time because of KD and Westbrook. Many kept believing that Harden without KD and Westbrook, would get exposed and such. But he is proving to everyone that he is a great player by himself and can carry his own team.
In recent seasons, KD has a 29 game streak; Iverson w/ 27, LBJ w/ 21, and Kobe w/ two 19s. In the last two seasons, only Kobe has a streak longer than 10 with 15 (aside from Harden).
If we make the playoffs and he keeps it around 25 5 5 he should be getting some MVP votes. The great thing is that he's exceeding all realistic expectations, he's playing like a wish come true.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=182740 Wilt Chamberlin 1961-1962 The lowest scoring output for the season was 26 points so in essence he went on a 80 game streak of 26 points or more He averaged 50 ppg that season...
When making statistical comparisons many people usually exclude Chamberlain's 50ppg season or put an asterisk next to it because it's an outlier and Wilt was quite obviously way ahead of his time.
I'm not sure it is a good sign. The Rox seem to reply on Harden too much on offence. McHale has to find a effective way to score other than the Harden.
I love that exception. Wilt doesn't count. Why? Cause he was a physical freak that beat up on white guys - not fair to compare. It's true but hilarious.
its not like harden is taking all the shots. his teammates should be shooting better than 30% and 25% from three
