Obviously, the Celtics consecutive championships and the Lakers' winning streaks are all outliers. So our 22-win streak and our back-2-back championships are the real records.
No, it's a very good sign. Jordan, Hakeem, Bird, Magic, all the great ones. You don't worry if they are scoring too much.
They put an asterisk next to it because it happened in the 60s, who gives a crap. Wilt would be nothing in today's NBA. Flukey stats from dominating an extremely weak league decades ago.
Don't worry. Cook sucked at defense and now that we have Anderson who can defend, rebound, and make three point shots Harden won't have any more 43 plus minute games.
As weird as it may sound. I actually hope McHale will get the youth involved in the offence more often.
This is absurd on multiple levels. Wilt was 7'2", strong, quick and incredibly skilled (he led the league in assists one year, just to prove he could). He was a horrible teammate, didn't exert himself much on defense, and was self-obsessed - but he would be a dominant offensive player in any era. The world didn't just begin the moment you started watching basketball.
As they should, especially the 61-62 season. This season was played at such a high pace that the average possessions per game were extremely high. Thus, the 61-62 season contained: 50ppg by wilt, the 100 point game by wilt, and oscar robertson averaged a triple double. So i agree, these stats need to be taken with a grain of salt. Interestingly, during the 61-62 seasons Wilts lowest scoring outputs came against the boston celtics (bill russell).
Who cares! Stop making up fake scenarios for that dude who's currently dnp in the Chinese league. People who make excuses for tmac make excuses for themselves.
When he wanted to be, he was. I didn't say he couldn't defend - I said he didn't exert himself much on defense ... and he didn't on many occasions. He relied on his height to get blocks on the weak side and focused on (tangible) rebounds. He wasn't much for chasing off pick-and-rolls or muscling his man. But, yes, when he turned it on, he was a great defender. At any rate, we're off track - he was a brilliant player then, and he'd be a brilliant player now. His specific 50+ppg season isn't replicable due to the slower pace in today's league, but the post saying that he would be a nobody today was too absurd to let go.
