Health issues make me hesitant as well, but at 31 it’s not hard to imagine a team offering him more money per year, like Reddick.
In the Iko tweet with EGo, James and Ryan, you can clearly read Hardens lips saying "We gonna take yo money and give it to him" The fact that anybody responds to holic is amazing; negative or positively. Just let him whither away in the corner quietly.
i believe that to be the case as well. each time a shoulder pops out its more likely to happen again. I'm just saying if the MLE goes unused, or we add another joe johnson after a buy out, then i would say he was worth the risk on a 1 year deal. but i can't blame him or morey for agreeing to part ways under the circumstances each were facing.

Maybe we could save the money and go after Thompson next year. He would light up the boards with his capabilities on this team from behind the arc. That, or extend Gordon and go after Durant. Win win either way, if either we can snag one of those stars. Maybe we can throw in that we don't have as big of fires and earthquakes here as a bonus temptation, and that they can just buy an amphibious vehicle for the family to get around during floods.
I doubt that he knows his contract and Anderson’s should have been switched. Now he won’t see that money but he will get a slight increase I think and he deserves it.
I am not totally familiar with how NBA extensions work or how you can apply them. But ideally, if the Rockets could give Gordon a "3yr extension" BUT apply it next season (aka bump the salary up on his current yr 4 number PLUS add 2 more years) that would basically add 2 more years to his current deal, bump yr 4 up and end the contract at the same time as CP3 & Harden. Which is the time the Rockets will need to pivot. So, Gordon makes 14M in year 4 of his deal. Maybe bump that to 18M. Then 2 more years at 19M & 20M. So total extension would be 3yr 43M. Just something along those lines. So it would look 2018: 13.5 2019: 14 = > 18 2020: 19 2021: 20 Something built along those lines.
