Why is the doubling of Harden causing so much confusion

Doesn’t seem to be confusion as much as we don’t have many guys that can make a play out of it. They are only comfortable with spot up shooting not read and react. Hopefully it gets better with time and reps though.

 

Role players need to execute.

No confusion.

 

If Westbrook is in the game the defense has more freedom to double hard and then have time to recover because they aren’t worried about his 3 ball.

Our better catch and shoot guys being out also isn’t helping.

 

Because the other 4 players hesitate and are confused on whether to shoot a 3 or pass it
Driving to the basket is not much of an option for most of them

A healthy Gordon changes the game. Can't double on Harden with Gordon open at the 3.

 

Exactly. Gordon and House are really our only two guys on the roster with a shot you have to respect and can also hurt you off the drive if the defense closes out too hard.

They are essential for making teams pay for doubling.

 

Not enough good shooters around him. Also, the doubles happen late in the clock often -- which means the other players don't have enough time to make a good play. Harden walking the ball up the floor as slowly as permitted by the rules doesn't help matters.

 

Westbrook can't shoot. Also harden is walking it up slowly and doesn't move off the ball.

 

A little more Clemons may help. He can shoot.

 

Because with everyone else standing around waiting for 'it' to happen...if Harden is double teamed, it's 5 statues out there, instead of only 4. Every see statues play basketball? No, you haven't. At least not effectively.

This is precisely where first CP3, and then Westbrook, was supposed to help. No one has ever accused him of being a statue.

 

Y’all act like we don’t get great shots due to teams double teaming Harden. We get a 4 on 3 every possession. Scrubs need to capitalize. They get wide open threes and brick. They get clear driving lanes and either turn it over or toss up something tragic towards the rim.

 

MDA is not one to adjust. Easily gets out-coached when he can’t rely on Harden to save the team.

 

Cause MDA’s offense is basically ISO BEARD.
No ISO BEARD.....No offense...

Maybe if that Westbrick sidekick could execute on the offensive end when Harden gets trapped??

2 threats = no double teams. Although it could lead to quadruple team leaving 2 guys wide open??????

 

EXACTLY, Its always blame someone else. Why are we always blaming Harden for our weakass role players.

Because the only one other than Harden that can create something for himself AND the team is Westbrook after that, and since he is a poor outside shooter, teams give him that.

Gordon cant create for himself or others. In fact I dont want him to even attempt. It usually ends up in a turnover.

Rivers can mostly create for himself but you dont want to completely rely on him.

Capela, Tucker, House etc are dependent on others.

You cant expect the role players to all of a sudden develop into something they are not.

This team needs another superstar but we all know that is not happening.

 

I get that role players need to execute, but when you miss the 100th 3pointer, MDa should look for something else gawd damn. So what if it's a good shot if you keep on missing.
