There's not really much confusion. They just needed time to adjust. The issue will be defense this year

The refs REFUSE to call defensive 3 seconds when the Rockets have the ball

Harden holds the ball for 10 second
He has 2 men on him and a 3rd behind them not guarding any one.
The other two play a flat two man zone on the base line /passing lanes

Thank you for your post. Like posts like these that aren’t asking dumb questions like the string of recent posts on how great do we think Luka Donkey will be at 30 years old or whether he is better than the Beard. Just wanted to thank you personally.

Interesting. Teams have either tried to duplicate what Denver did or modified the trap/zone defense against James. Some of the traps are delayed or coming late when James begins his attack. Some teams are playing 2-3 trapping James on the wing or top of the key. I’ve seem PJ or Capela open a lot in the middle which is zone busting 101. They either pass out of it or miss the shot in the paint or FT line. These defenses definitely bothers Beard and disrupts the offense. The ball needs to move quicker to shift the zone and players need to move near baseline in the hot zone busting spots so the middle guy can pick his poison if he’s covered down. But then this changes the whole ISO ball MDA Philosophy. Somethings gotta give.

it took us a some games, but it looks like we've finally made an adjustment. 29 Assists last night (awesome), Russell a playmaker, but that jumper is trash. Loved what we got from McClemore and House shooting the 3s. Hopefully, they can absorb some of PJ's minutes.
