He's one of those non-guaranteed guys that Morey picked up that people assumed was going to be used in a trade because the receiving team could cut him for nothing since his contract is non-guaranteed. But his contract becomes fully guaranteed after July 7th, defeating the purpose of acquiring him in the first place. So what's gonna happen with him by July 7th? Any ideas?
I dont think Morey will let this go to waste... last resort is we cut him.. But i think before he does that, he is going to look really hard at the prospect of doing a sign and trade with Toronto for PJ Tucker. I think he was just blowing steam when he said he will go into the season with these NGteed... like anyone believed him even for a second.
I think if we don't have a bigger deal in place by then, we will work the Tucker signing as a SNT including 3 of the NGs and some small incentive for Tor. Then we still have one NG and most of the MLE to work with.
I thought Tucker has agreed already to a deal with the Rockets? Why/How will there be a Sign and Trade for Tucker? I'm confused
He will get cut if not traded by the 7th. Morey isn't going to risk his salary counting against us when we are hard capped. It was just gamble that if something did happen before the 7th, we had another resource. All it cost us was last years cash...no big deal.
Nothing is official. He has agreed to be on a rockets for a certain amount of years and for money that is it. The ink is not dried. Can still be signed and traded to Houston.
And if we didn't use last year's cash ($3.5m), it'd have expired anyway. Smart move. No downside, except for a small hit to Le$' pocket
The main purpose of obtaining the accumulated non-guaranteed contracts was to flip them to a team as a group. That particular team can then shed payroll. Approximately $7.05 million. 1) Trade them to a team for payroll shedding Ryan Kelly $1.577M Huertas $1.567M I Taylor $1.3M Shawn Long $1.3M Quarterman $1.3M _________________ ....................$7.044M en.hispanosnba.com (Houston Rockets) That would help with a Ryan Anderson contract in (17/18)......but not the following years. Ryan Anderson 17/18: $19.6M would decrease to about the equivalent of $12.56M 18/19: $20.4M 19/20: $21.3M There is bound to be a team that has a disgruntled star the insists on being moved. If Redick can receive $23 million for one yr...some team might think they can move Ryno in year 18/19 or 19/20 (when he is on an expiring contract year). Ryan Anderson would be great with Porzingis if they continue with the "Triangle Offense" -3-pt line extended at times. They drafted players to fit the Triangle and brought in Hornacek to run the Triangle. Or 2) The Rockets will dump them as they get near the date their contracts become fully guaranteed. Decreasing payroll as the Rockets move along. Disappointing since the Roxx added the players by paying for them and adding payroll in the process. Nice try.....but a whiff none the less. Uthoff may be serviceable in time.
