I must be missing something but I don't get why this is a big deal? We acquired these guys for trade purposes. They were going to be non-guaranteed. But think of our TPE as living, breathing financial asset. As time passes, bit by bit it starts turning into an expiring contract, until it is one large expiring contract. For a team like NY, I bet this comes up in the discussion. If they send us Melo now, they can waive all those guys. The longer they wait, the more this asset becomes expiring rather than NG. Still a great thing to have right now given any major player makes over $20m so we need to be able to match without having to give up 2 of Ariza, Gordon, Anderson if possible.
Could I receive 75k for the next 9 days?...I could come up with some pretty crazy trade machine ideas. Just let me know Le$
Seriously, I would have signed a $20 million non-guaranteed deal with the Rockets that only paid me $100k so they could trade me and cut me!
I assume that means Morey failed to pull off something he had planned. He must have thought there was some deal he could get done before today.
I take this to mean we could trade him to someone with 75k cash and they could cut him and still get his salary off the books. At the end of the day it becomes guaranteed. Or maybe I'm reading this wrong.
