I’ve read that Italy isn’t allowing people who are 65+ or who have pre existing conditions to get ICU care due to rationing, I haven’ checked into this, is it true Malakas? If so that’s got be a huge reason for an increased death rate.

Not so bad but it is still tragic. They have started implementing the army manual in SOME hospitals in north Italy.

Who is over 80 or has other severe comorbidities they don't get them into ICU. They try to save those who have more chances.
But definitely the 60s and 70s are included in the younger ones who get in ICU.

    A real tragedy.

But it doesn't explain the %. Look at the % from yesterday

    From the dead:
    10% 60-69 yo
    31% 70-79 yo

    44% 80-89 yo
    14% over 90

The demographic of the victims show that about 41% did get into ICU.
The italian doctors are saying that now most of the old have already crashed and they keep getting younger and younger who can't breath anymore and rush to the hospitals.
If anything ...the way this is going it is possible than in the future the demographics will be even worse. I mean the % of younger (60s and 70s)

Holding out hope that my company tells us to work from home. Already do that on Mondays and Wednesdays, but would love to do it all week!

Going to Vegas at the end of April. No plans to change any of that as of yet.

You teach, or used to teach? Carl! I had no idea! My respect for you, which was there already (not everyone gets your sense of humor, which can sometimes be very hard to recognize), has just gone up. Heck, I’m one of the only members of my family, either still with us or in the Great Beyond, who hasn’t been in that profession.

It is a profession, regardless of how educators are sometimes treated. Those who teach at the grade school, middle school, or high school level, particularly in Texas, are underpaid and overworked. My late father and my uncle were university professors, one a department chair for many, many years, the other a retired dean. If those two were “overworked,” it was because they loved what they were doing and had a difficult time tearing themselves away. The rest, however, were or are of the “overworked and underpaid” variety. Anyway, kudos! Hope your former student is “uninfected.”

I have to travel for work on a semi-regular basis. Today I did a quick trip from DFW-IAH...really quick, like 3 hours in Houston and I never left the airport.

The flight to IAH sucked...the schmuck next to me was coughing and sucking on cough drops all flight long. The flight back was much better. I had no idea that I could actually keep from touching my face for a solid 6 hours, but I didn't from the time I got on the AM flight until I got back home and jumped in the shower.

My boss has said that unless word comes down from higher than him, if I'm not comfortable traveling, I don't have to travel. Hopefully his boss or their boss doesn't override him, because I don't want to fly anywhere else until this has blown over.

Personally, my wife and I have cancelled the Spring Break trip we planned with our kids to San Antonio. We have REALLY cut down our eating out. And we're trying to avoid crowds whenever possible.

I have a ticket to the RATM concert in El Paso in a couple weeks. I'm REALLY hoping they postpone their tour, because I would hate to have to sell it. I'm not going the way things are looking right now.

Damn man, thats terrible. I feel bad for flight attendants right now.

Do yall think it would be rude to give a coughing person a mask, if you had an extra? Would yall personally take offense if somebody gave you one? Might be good to carry a few while traveling, especially on a plane/airport.

Yeah, I'm going to Vegas here next weekend, as well.

Not changing any plans, but admittedly a little spooked.

The virus just raises the ambient stress of life to where I don't really want to go anywhere anyway. I'm supposed to go camping next week, but outdoors in nature actually seems safer anyway, even if other people are going to be there.

My wet wipes have Aloe Vera. After my daily dump, I wipe and sooth my ass, all at the same time.

What a time to be alive.
