I was watching The Jump's draft show last night for a short time. When the Rockets discussion came up and CP3's free agency Windhorst "off the cuff" just threw out the idea that if the Rockets had a wink-wink deal with CP3, this was done under "previous ownership", who is to say the new owner is on board with that?

It was just speculation thrown out for 5 seconds on a 5 hour draft show.

My guess is now Broussard "likes that idea" and it allows him a way to make an argument that CP3 could now go to LA.

Nothing here, but "fake embers" to start a fire.

This is how these things get out of control.

 

The reason this doesn’t make sense is we obviously are going to give cp3 whatever deal he wants.

There is no way DM and Tilman try to get cute with cp3 and save some money.

I think it’s understood that cp3 names his contract and the rockets sign it.

Exact opposite. CP has all the leverage. He can get a Max deal almost anywhere and bring ppl to him.

This is incorrect. "He can get the max anywhere" - uh, no, he can't. Not every team has max cap room or the ability to create it. Even if they did, "and bring people to him" - which would require even more cap room nobody worthwhile has.
