I've stated before that I don't like the city of Dallas, the players (that totally embody the city they play for), the owner, or the fans. Define a "regular fan." While you're at it, explain your "logical" love for the Rockets.

You're right, you don't have to prove yourself because you're a holy "99er"...yet here you are, telling other fans what a "true passionate fan" is and what they should believe in. Give me a break.

I don't think so dude. Trust me, I wanted to believe. We all did.
They could front Yao and they force Tmac to jack up 3s. Plus Yao/Tmac later had injury problems.

When you start doing what ifs, you know that team wasn't really that good.
It's not like they lost the series by a shot in game 7, we got crushed.

A true championship team can win on pressure situations on the road, and especially in game 7..

    Here's an example:

Hakeem tipped the rebound of Drexler's missed finger roll to win that game in OT, not the end of regulation. Kenny Smith hit a three to send it into OT. Just saying.

Spare me. You've already proven my point. Fandom is subjective.

You didn't see me start one either. The "board" homerism was a nice touch though...

If the healthy Yao/T-Mac were surrounded by good role players, I don't see why they cannot win a championship. T-Mac was playing amazing, and nobody could stop Yao 1-on-1. Again, we had Ryan freaking Bowen and David Wesley.

Don’t you just hate it when you’re chillin at the bar, or over at your boy’s house watching the game, and some idiot is rooting for the Mavs (or Heat) just because they can, and they’re not even a fan of the game. I’d have to say, it really grinds my gears, but yes…I have noticed this annoying trend occurring more and more as of lately.

People fronted Yao. they can't even get him the ball. Plus Yao can't play a whole game like Shaq or Hakeem without getting winded.

Tmac was forced to do too much and would often break down in the 4th quarter.

also explain the Utah series. we had home court advantage (check), healthy tmac (check), healthy Yao (check)

If they Rockets were in the NBA finals and lost a game 7, you have an argument, we didn't even smell it.

The 3 biggest reasons I dislike the Mavericks are their fans, Mark Cuban, and Jason Terry. Dirk is someone that I don't like simply because he wears a Mavs uniform, but his performance in this playoffs really has been spectacular. I would prefer if the the Mavericks didn't win, but I'm not going to be overly upset if they do. Frankly, they deserve to win with the way they've been playing.

tinman, I think we all agree that the 2005 Rockets squad is not a championship team. What I am saying is that Rockets were just unlucky with the Yao/T-Mac era. When Yao/T-Mac were healthy, our role players totally sucked. When we finally got some good role players, our stars were injured. You almost need perfect alignment to win a championship, like how Boston did it in the big 3's first year.

I was rooting for Memph but since they lost I'd go for the Mavs. Still Texas... Greatest state in the nation :)

Rather than respond to your "reasons," I thought I would just say this:

I hate the Mavs, but after reading this nonsense I almost got trapped into defending them. You are a master of reverse psychology.

The reasons to hate dallas are obvious..it is very reminiscent of the team that beat us in '05 and the pain of that series still lingers. Also, the people of Dallas..they are the true reason I cant stand to see the Cowboys, Mavs, Rangers, Stars win. Dallas fans are an annoying, self-entitled, arrogant bunch. The Mavs as a team have definitely payed their dues and they, most notably Dirk, are playing out of their minds. I respect the way the play but still will actively be rooting against them.

On a sidenote, Magic Johnson comparing Dirk to MJ is about the most idiotic thing ive heard in a while. Every year there seems to be someone that plays incredibly in the playoffs, this year its Dirk (for now at least). We've seen Lebron do it, Wade do it, Kobe do it, Nash do it, Duncan do it. I really hope either the Bulls or the Heat sweep them; watching them fall again would be oh so joyful.

Why do we need so many threads arguing whether we should or should not hate the Mavericks? If you want to hate them, go right ahead. If you don't, fine. We are Rockets fans. When the Rockets are not in the picture, we are free to root for or against any team.

glen rice had his own shoe when it was still cool to have his own shoe, and how many player do you know pimping nautica? Glen rice was the man how dare you.

Besides glen rice was a talent and les brought him here. He may not have panned out but you can't say les didnt try to bring talent.. What about mcgrady , mutumbo, francis they came here because of olajuwon too?

Your revisionist while simultaneously sucking cubans balls is downright sad. You need to check your rockets status...

    How about some facts:
    - cuban let go of nash because he didn't want to pay him. THATS RIGHT MR MONEY BAGS DIDNT WANT TO PAY. TALK ABOUT A BS OWNER. Yeah and guess what nash went on to win 2 MVPS.. not one count them 2:

Anyone that lets go of one of the best point guards of our era because of cheapness ,immediately should be barred from even being in any conversation about 'good owner' or anything near. the fact we are even arguing this is seriously a joke. you are a joke. period.

how many rockets players under les, then left and went on to win MVP?? The answer? 0.. much less TWICE.. ARE YOU F-ING KIDDING ME?!!?!

And taking up washed up talent like glen rice(even though he wasnt washed up)? Can I haz antoine walker, keith van horn, jerry stackhouse, eddie jones, juwon howard, darrell armstrong, nick van exel, tim hardaway and a tall glass of STFU?? If I didnt know better I would think that under cuban its more like where old legends go to die. your opinions sucks , and you support a mirage like cuban?? while dissing the rockets? based on what getting jobbed by the heat in the finals? yawn.

Oh yeah and how many players has les traded that went on to become all stars? 0?

    What about cuban? 3?

What about devin harris after he left Dallas? oh yeah all star. What about jamison after he left dallas ? All star?

Face it you suck for sucking on dallas ,and also suck for being flat wrong.
    LES> CUBAN

lucky for Cuban nowitzski hasnt been injured like the injury bug that got to ming and mcgrady.

Your lack of respect to rockets and love of dallas is disturbing.

    FAIL

To be honest, we only had two tough series with the Mavs. For majority of my Rockets' fandome, I don't remember ever even having a rivalry with the Mavs until the last few years. The pre-Cuban/Nowitzki Mavs were never good so you really didn't care about them. Now Jazz, that's a team always seem to draw in the playoffs, always have a tough series, and they're always good/competitive.
