Can't really argue with that. Texans are built to win now while the Rockets have a long window to grow and get better. I wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets got there first though.

I would agree, I think our only competition in the AFC is Denver. Of course injuries always come into play and I don't want to completely write off NE and Balt, they are both dealing with tons of losses.

The Rockets are still in a hyper competitive conference and have to get through Miami (likely) if we even get to the finals.

I think because how bad we finished the year people have actually started to under-rate the Texans.

We need to be healthy on D, but I think Mercilus is an upgrade over Barwin and hopefully Ed Reed can be ready eventually so our D should be better.

We added a receiver and otherwise brought the same offense back so no reason to think it would be worse.

Add the Patriots situation no reason to think we can't win it all.

I hate McClain and he is stupid

But I agree, if I had to put money on who would win next, it would be the texans

The majority of sportsbooks have the Rockets behind the Thunder and Spurs in the Western Conference...and behind the Bulls and the Heat as well, as far as winning a title.

In football, the 49ers, Seahawks, Broncos, and even Patriots, are ahead of the Texans in Vegas.

In other words, it's pretty even between the two sports as far as betting odds are concerned...but I say the Texans have the best chance because I see the Broncos as our only competition on our road to the Superbowl.

I can't really argue with what he's saying. In the short-term both teams are set up well, with the Texans probably being closer due to the fact that the AFC looks to be in a down year. They don't need to be barn-burners to get to the AFC Championship Game....they just need to play good, solid defense in the playoffs. The long-term prognosis for the Texans, however, is much murkier due to aging veterans at key positions.

For the Rockets, while I'm excited about the short-term, I'm ESPECIALLY excited about the long term because the Rockets have set themselves up to be contenders for the next 4 years. They are young, talented, and have room for a lot of growth and upward mobility while still maintaining a core of star power. However, in the short term, the Western Conference is much more top heavy than the AFC, which means that the Rockets will have to get through a gauntlet of powerhouses just to make it to the NBA Finals.

What a nice conversation to have non-sarcastically.

The Texans are more likely to be a .500 team than the Rockets.

I haven't listened to that station in months. Even when the season starts it will never be where I go to for knowledgeable Texans talk.

I agree with this. I won't be at all shocked if the Texans finish 8-8.

I feel like one team has peaked..and the other is just beginning to make their move.

I hope I'm wrong about the Texans. I'd love to be.

Odds are, neither team wins titles with current stars.

In football anything can happen. Ravens weren't the best team last year but were the hottest. In NBA best teams always win.

The Rockets have to become the best team in the NBA to win a title, the texans don't.

Texans are closer. Also, regular season means nothing in NFL, as long as you get in the Playoffs.

Best team doesn't always win, but you do have to be closer to the best.

    It's easier to go 8-8 than 41-41.

I think the underrating is rightful. We put up some truly putrid games, one after another.

Plus it never hurts to be underrated.
